"Gateway System Reactivated. All Gateways Online and Ready"
"God damnit, Nezuko!" Chiyo said. "That's the last time I let an Amphea touch something!
"Shut it off, Lieutenant!" Chisato ordered frantically.
Nezuko typed frantically on her tricorder. She was still interfaced, but nothing she was doing was working. Eyes wide, she tried more and more possible overrides, but…no result.
She shook her head to the others, not sparing the time to type ‘not working’.
The blue symbols one by one started turning a different colour. This time they turned green. Once again they spread out from the Remella System across the entire Milky Way Galaxy. The text changed again, once again going through multiple languages before settling on Federation Standard English.
"Gateway Network Open."
An alarm began to sound and a purple coloured translucent forcefield appeared around them, trapping them in a circle.
(Iconian Council Chamber)
"You... Shall not... get away... with this... T'Ket!" she spluttered.
In a brief second, M'Tara was surrounded by black smoke and disappeared from the council chamber.
"And so she runs as usual. Like always." T'Ket said. She turned to the others spear still in hand. "I have defeated M'Tara. Although she will likely live, she has deserted this council and her sisters. I am taking charge now."
A deathly silence fell upon the entire room for what seemed like an eternity. Finally one of the Iconians broke the eerily long silence. "What should we do T'Ket?"
"Power up the Omega Engine. We are returning to our Galaxy..."
(USS Tokyo)
"Woah..." Mikko said from the helm. "Counsellor, its not just us shaking. But the entire Dyson Sphere. Its vibrating. The amount of energy its emitting is off the scale!" She reported from the helm. "Something strange is going on!"
Talia hung on as the ship shook. "To answer your question Commander, we were just debating the next move when you came onto the bridge. We needed to regain control of the ship's systems first."
"Well..." Ryuuji said as he held onto one of the nearby consoles for support. "Perhaps we should focus on diverting more power to the inertial dampeners..."
"I'm doing that..." Mikko called back over the shaking. "Buts its not enough!"
And now the continuation...
(Unknown Location)
Taiga was woken as the room around her began to shake. It was like being in the middle of an Earthquake, a common occurrence in her homeland of Japan back on Earth. But this was different, it didn't sound or feel natural at all. She sat up from where she had been laid down and was using her hands to stabalise herself. "Thomas!" She called out. "What the hell is going on?!"
"No idea Captain." He said standing up, "Whatever it is, its big enough to shake this facility, maybe even the sphere. I don't like it." He turned. "Jeff, M'Tara, whats going on." The likelihood of a response was small however.
Much to their surprise M'Tara 'poofed' into the room. However she was not floating, and she wasn't glowing as brightly as she did before. Jeff also 'poofed' in with her. M'Tara was laid on her side, propped up by one arm. "T'Ket has taken control of us." She stated simply. "She plans to start the invasion of your galaxy." M'Tara told them both. "The Omega Engine is being powered up. There is nothing I can do now."
"What do you mean 'The Invasion'?" Taiga asked quickly as she approached. She could see that somehow this Iconian who referred to herself as a god was injured, if not dying. "What's the Omega Engine?"
"Its our ultimate creation. Built many millenia ago. It powers our Spheres." M'Tara said. "It has only one purpose when enough fuel has been accumulated." M'Tara told them both her voice growing weaker and her energy colour starting to fade.
Walking to her side Thomas knelt. "Power struggles are never good." He checked on her. "Get us to the Tokyo, we can help you. Let us at least show you that although we are unfortunate to have tendencies of violence, we opt for the opposite."
"No..." M'Tara said. "I still have my pride." She raised her hand slowly and held out her palm. "I shall return you to your ship. Your 'Away Team' will be returned too, along with your property." She looked directly at Taiga. "You are not ready to face us. I cannot stop the oncoming wrath of T'Ket." She told Taiga. "I will use the last of my essence to ensure you die together..."
"Comforting..." Taiga said. "But then what? What happens next?"
"This sphere will cross the void. It will return to where it was once built... Our old homeland." M'Tara's voice seemed weak and she seemed to wince as if in pain. "And then the invasion will begin. I return you all now..."
Taiga and Thomas were suddenly engulfed in black smoke and disappeared with a 'poof'. M'Tara's glow began to fade rapidly, her head slowly descended her body once made up of bright coloured energy faded to grey. Then her body seemed to turn to nothing but dust leaving only the 'armour' that made up and shaped her limbs. The great Iconian M'Tara was gone.
(Dyson Sphere 'Factory')
"What the heck is going on out there?!" Chisato exclaimed as the entire room began to shake violently.
"We need to get back to the shuttle now!" Chiyo exclaimed.
"Everybody move, now!" Daxer called out, reinforcing the order that had been given. "I'll cover our escape!"
Nezuko could only nod vigorously.
Lieutenant Yuvek immediately pivoted on his back foot and began to run through the long corridor the team had originally entered through. Unfortunately, he had not focused on what was several feet in front of him as he began to ran and he collided into the purple colored translucent forcefield.
The force of the impact knocked him off of his feet and threw him several feet backwards. He held the bridge of his nose as he shook his head and realized what had just happened.
"There's some barrier blocking us." He announced loudly, but ultimately rhetorically, to the group as he slowly climbed back to his feet.
He withdrew his Padd and tried to access the Runabout's navigational controls. Thankfully, he was able to still remotely control the vessel; however, the Away Team was so far away that it would still take at least several minutes for it to traverse the corridors to get within visual range of the away team.
"Shuttle is 8 minutes out!" Lieutenant Yuvek shouted; however, he wasn't too confident that the team had that much time remaining.
"You just had to touch it didn't you, Nezuko?" Daxer asked, shaking her head. She faced back toward the room they'd just left with her M16 ready to fire. "Stuck in some far away galaxy, picking a fight with what could possibly be the worst enemy Starfleet has ever faced... It's just not my day."
(USS Tokyo Bridge)
There was a sudden 'poof' of black smoke which lasted only a brief second. Then there right under the viewscreen stood Captain Taiga Aisaka, and Commander Thomas Johnson. Both of them looked shocked and slightly confused at what had happened. Only a brief second later, there was another 'poof' of black smoke and towards the rear of the bridge near the turbolift shaft stood the away team, also looking rather confused and slightly disorientated.
"What's..." Chisato glanced around in disbelief. "Why are we back on the bridge? No, scratch that, how are we back on the bridge?!"
"Your guess is as good as mine." Chiyo shrugged.
Talia sat for a moment her mouth practically hanging open at the site of Thomas back on the bridge and very much alive! She shook it off quickly recovering her composure, she and Thomas would have the chance to catch up later on.
We’re back! Nezuko realized, a quiet sigh leaving her body, representative of the relief coursing through her. And it wasn’t just her. Thomas was back too! But she tamped down her excitement. They were still in crisis mode. She rushed to her Ops station, relieving the junior officer.
"Well..." Daxer said, looking around the bridge, and scratching her head quizzically. "That happened."
Lieutenant Yuvek looked down at his hands and patted the side of his tunic. He still could not comprehend how he had gone from the interior of the facility to being back on the ship all in the blink of an eye.
Getting used to his surroundings, "Computer, stop countdown, raise shields and brace for a rough ride. We are going back to our galaxy. Unfortunately not alone." He looked at the Captain, then to Talia who was sitting in the centre seat. "Centre seat looks good on you Lt."
"I'm very glad to let you have it back Captain!" Talia smiled her relief obvious. "What happened? where did you go?"
"No time to explain." Taiga said noticing that everyone was present. "Everyone get to your stations!" she ordered. "Get us out of low orbit NOW!"
"I have a bad feeling about this..." Chisato muttered as she hurriedly assumed her station.
Without further word, Chiyo moved to assume her seat in the command pit.
"Shields up, boosting their efficiency to 125 percent." Connor replied from tactical. He was surprised at the arrival of the two, especially Commander Johnson. Glad just the same. "Lt Carey to all crew, brace for a rough ride." He announced over the intercom.
Taiga moved towards her seat, but was stopped by Ryuuji. He loomed over her looking down at her. Slowly she looked up. Ryuuji and Taiga's eyes met, it was clear he had been worried about her. "You OK?"
Taiga gave him a nod in response.
Ryuuji nodded back. "I got it. Later."
He stepped away and made his way towards one of the mission operations consoles. At least on the bridge, he could be with Taiga and still be useful.
Meanwhile Taiga moved towards her chair. "I hate to ask Counselor..." she said with a smile at Talia.
"Ohh.. of course!" Talia smiled as she moved out of the centre seat, she wanted to rush over and hug Thomas but the bridge wasn't the place to do it. She gave him a longing look. "It's good to have you back Commander, you've been missed."
"Feelings mutual Lt." He smiled as he left his seat empty for her to take.
Noting that Thomas had left his seat for her Talia sat down. “I’m certainly glad you’re both back! I’ve had about all I want of the experience of being in command.”
Thomas walked behind the Captain and his seat, that was now occupied by Talia, and worked on the console. "All signs of the Computer virus has been removed from the system Captain. The ship was never going to blow up... but anyone trying to take control wouldn't know that. It would have just fried the computers. Leaving just a shell."
"Helm!" Taiga called out. "What's our altitude?!"
Lieutenant Yuvek got over his daze and confusion and made his way over to the Helm station. He tapped Ens. Mikko on the shoulder to relieve her of the position.
"Good job, Ensign. I'm glad you didn't break my ship while I was gone." Lieutenant Yuvek said in an attempt to bring levity to an otherwise chaotic situation.
"She's all yours," Mikko said dkiding out of the chair, allowing her superior to take his position.
He slid himself into the chair and tried to determine just how far the vessel was from the facility or any other object that might come crashing down on them. It had taken Jasad awhile to wrap his mind around the very idea of being inside of such a massive structure. But at the moment, his main concern was whether some part of the structure was about to come loose and collide into the vessel while it was trying to find some form of an exit.
It was then that something happened that no one was expecting. The sun in the very center of the Dyson Sphere began to flickers. Huge beams of light burst from its northern 'pole' in various directions, impacting several spots on the interior surface of the Dyson Sphere. The whole landscape of the surface began to change. Streak of purple light began to appear, zapping out across the entire surface like a circuit board coming to life.
Then there was a tremendous flash of bright light from the center of the sphere.
The Helm console on the bridge began to go crazy, its readings of speed and distance going off the charts. The Sphere seemed to be moving, but faster than any Warp Drive, Transwarp or even Slimstream could be measured at, and it was taking the Tokyo and her crew with it.
"My God..." Chisato gasped in horror.
Once again, Lieutenant Yuvek was speechless as he stared at the instrument panel before him. The sphere was traveling at speeds so fast that the ship's computer could not even calculate the distance traveling because it had no point of reference because it was passing by entire star systems in the blink of an eye.
Finally, the lights from the sun cut off. The vast network of lights and conduits on the surface of the Dyson Sphere faded.
"What the hell just happened?!" Taiga asked outloud as the Tokyo became quiet, only the soft ambient noise of the ships engines and systems could be heard. She didn't have chance to get her answer as an Herald Ship rapidly sped towards them.
"Red Alert!" Taiga called out. "All hands get to your battlestations!"
At the order to stations, Daxer had setup another console on the bridge with her tactical layout to take some of the load off of Connor. "Weapons and shields are online, and at your disposal." She said, looking at the tactical sensors. She was ready to begin firing if that ship got hostile.
The Herald Ship halted in front of the Tokyo, a strange purple energy beam fired from one of its 'fins'. There in front of them an Iconian Gateway, big enough for the Tokyo to fly through easily appeared. The Tokyo began to move towards it as if being pulled by magnetism.
"Captain, That's an Iconian gateway." Daxer called out, as her sensors told her they were moving forward without engines. "Something is pulling us into it."
"That's our ticket out of here." Taiga said. "I don't care where it takes us. Take her in Lieutenant!" Taiga ordered directing her order towards the helm.
"Taking us in," Lt. Yuvek announced as he increased power to the thrusters. The ship was already being pulled in by the gateway's pull; however, Jasad didn't want the ship to spend anymore time within firing distance of the Herald vessel than it needed to.
A few moments later the Tokyo emerged, back into normal space. The outer shell of the Dyson Sphere behind them, on the edge of a long abandoned star system in the Romulan Neutral Zone. Huge Space Doors slowly began to open, and out poured hundreds if not thousands of Herald Ships. Several of them taking pot-shots at the Tokyo as they swarmed out like angry wasps.
"Get us out of here!" Taiga ordered as the Herald weapons fire bounced off their shields. "Maximum Warp, any direction NOW!"
"Aye ma'am, initiating evasive maneuvers, pattern Echo-3-Zula-12!" He shouted as the vessel began to rotate along its dorsal axis away from the nearest vessel as the Carrier began to accelerate faster into impulse.
Once the Tokyo had retreated to a safe distance, Chisato happened to steal a glance at the ship's astrogator and observed an unusual discrepancy.
"Wait, hold on a sec..." she muttered as she got up to take a closer look.
"Uh, Captain, you're not going to believe this, but if I'm reading this display correctly... we're somehow back in the Milky Way Galaxy-!"
"Fascinating, tell us when we're not being shot at!" Taiga snapped back quickly.
The Tokyo shook again from the Herald's pot-shots. "Helm!" Taiga called out, eager to get the hell out of there.
The Tokyo jumped to warp with a flash, leaving the Dyson Sphere and the Herald Ships behind. They began to swarm around the star system as if patrolling and establishing defensive lines.
