Welcome aboard the USS Tokyo!

TokyoPatchSmall.png"Sometimes you have to fight for the things that are worth fighting for." - Arrietty.

The year is 2396.

With the recent escalations of violence and unrest within the Alpha and Beta Quadrants, Starfleet recognised a need for a fast ship that can be deployed as a rapid response vessel. After six years of development Starfleet Corps of Engineers started to lay down the spaceframe for four new carrier type vessels, the USS Armitage, USS Tokyo, USS Oceania and the USS Broadsword.

The Armitage Class vessels are an upgraded version of the highly successful Akira class starships. They are designed as rapid response attack carriers, capable of high speed deployment of fighters and auxiliary craft as well as specialist operations in deep space. These first two vessels of the class, USS Armitage and USS Tokyo were launched in 2390 and have been in service since.

The USS Tokyo is the second vessel of the class and is currently commanded by Captain Taiga Aisaka. The Tokyo's main mission is to patrol the Federation's Neutral Zones, shipping lanes and eliminate any threats to protect the security of the Federation. From managing civilian traffic to engaging potential invasion forces the Armitage classes are built to defend the security of the Federation and this is the Tokyo's main mission.

» Captain's Christmas Message 2023

Posted on Sat Dec 23rd, 2023 @ 7:10am by Captain Taiga Aisaka in Out of Character

taigachristmassmall.pngTo all crew!

First of all I want to thank you all for another fantastic year aboard the Tokyo! Whether you've only been here a month, or numerous years, you have all been a wonderful crew and group of people to write with! The Tokyo has become more than just a Star Trek RPG on the internet. We have become a close knit group of friends, and family! I can't thank you enough for all of your efforts and support throughout this last year!

With that aside, I want to take a few moments to talk about this time of year.

Christmas is upon us once again, and it is a time of year that means something different for each of us. For some it is still regarded a religious holiday, celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. For some who have a different religion is has a different meaning or is not celebrated at all. However, regardless of Religion or politics, this time of year is to be treasured and is for sharing, giving and for love.

I want to wish you all the love and health in the world this Christmas. Whether you are alone, going through struggles, or are looking forward to spending it with family or loved ones; remember that here on the Tokyo you are part of our family. No one is ever turly alone at Christmas. I want to remind you all to be kind, share and give to others around you. Buy someone a coffee, hold open a door for the person behind you, and be polite and respectful to those behind the counter. Trust me, it can really make someones day!

However, most importantly. Spend what time you can with those you treasure. I do not expect any of you to tag into posts on Christmas Day or Boxing Day the day after. I would rather you be spending time with those you hold dear! Please make sure you treasure every moment with them, and take a break to reward yourselves this Christmas. I stand by these wonderful words below, spoken by a true legend of the franchise we all love:

"Someone once told me that time was a predator that stalked us all our lives. But I rather believe than time is a companion who goes with us on the journey, and reminds us to cherish every moment because they'll never come again." - Captain Jean-Luc Picard - Star Trek Generations.

Happy Christmas to each and everyone of you! May you all find happiness, joy and health this holiday season!

NaNo-AchievedNaNo@2x.pngTo all crew of the USS Tokyo!

Congratulations!

We completed the NanoWriMo challenge of 2023!

The goal was to write 50,000 words in the month of November, the average length of a novel. I enrolled us in the challenge and between us, we have achieved that goal coming in at a total of 51,064 words over the month! This is a fantastic achievement!

Well done to you all, I will work on giving everyone who participated a special Nano 2023 medal on their user profiles! I am so happy we managed to complete this challenge as a team and a crew! I am extremely proud of each and every one of you.

Since we have completed Nano, I have entered the name 'Crew of the USS Tokyo' into the NanoWriMo Hall of Fame for 2023! Once again congratulations to you all and well done!

To all crew!

I have re-opened (early) our Christmas season side-mission for all of you to write in. Once again, this is an optional mission and is mainly for you to write some festive character development posts. All posts that happen in this mission are out of current timeline, and can be wherever and whenever you want! Feel free to write something in the festive spirit and expand on your characters!

TokyoChristmas.jpg

I will be starting something for us all to have a christmas time together in December! I'm opening the side- mission early so some of us get some time to get things rolling! Plus, its December at the end of this week, so its close enough!

Have fun guys and keep writing!

Thepoppystorybooksquare.jpgToday, 105 years ago the guns fell silent in France marking the end of the most bloodiest and violent wars in Human history. The great war is remembered every year on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. Millions of brave people were lost in this long conflict and families across the globe were shattered or torn apart. We take this time to remember those who have fallen, giving the ultimate sacrifice to make the world a better place. We must learn from history and continue to remember those who gave their lives for each and every one of us.

Today here on the Tokyo we continue to write in the utopia universe of Star Trek. A world shaped by those who made sacrifices before us. Thankyou all for your participation and involvement in making a better future, even if it's fiction.

FBIMG1699721489899.jpgToday also marks a sad day for me personally. My long time friend and brother who I met through simming passed away 5 years ago. Arron Selter was one of my first CO's ever, he helped and shaped me to the person I am today. He was the kindest, most gentle and amazing man I have ever met. He always put people first, he had the biggest heart anyone could ask for. He was unfortunately taken from us after a motorbike accident. However, his death also helped others. His organs were donated and even after his passing, he helped save several people waiting organ donations. He was once here on the USS Tokyo, his character sits in our 'In Memory' manifest so we can remember him. I miss him everyday, but I know he's looking over us all. He lives on in our hearts and memories and he would be proud of what the Tokyo has become.

"You have been... and always shall be your friend..."

Thankyou for reading.

» National Novel Writing Month!

Posted on Mon Nov 6th, 2023 @ 2:39pm by Captain Taiga Aisaka in General News

Logo_of_National_Novel_Writing_Month.pngNovember is here! (Although this message is 6 days late, sorry about that). This means that it is officially 'National Novel Writing Month'. The aim of November is to get creative and write a novel! Or at least a good part of it!

How do you do this you ask? Well its simple, you simply have to write 1666 words a day! That's a good sized post right here on the Tokyo! You can join NaNo here: https://nanowrimo.org/ for more information!

So, what does this have to do with the USS Tokyo?

Well, thats the fun part...

I'm unofficially entering the crew of the Tokyo to work on this together! I'll be sharing our updates on our Discord server! Here are the rules:

- We must as a group post 50,000 words by the end of November which equalizes out at 1666 per day.
- All Single, Joint Posts and personal logs will be added to the final score.
- If you wish, you can choose to participate on your own meaning you alone would need to write 1666 words per day.
- If you don't write 1666 on one day, you can catch up on another day. For example if you have 3 days off but then write 6664 words upon your return, you're back on track.
- I will be handing out special awards for those who participate and if we complete NaNo!
- All Posts must be relevant to the mission or character development!

Ok then everyone, we're six days behind! How about we get some of these posts finished and posted out to get our first count going?!
