Mission: Descent
Location: Starfighters/ Flight Deck

Previously on Star Trek Tokyo...

The catapult launcher helped the starfighters propel to full impulse faster than if they’d taken off under their own power.

“Dear gods”, Teela called out upon her first glimpse of the shattered station. The rushing sensation of the Tokyo’s catapult was also a force to be reckoned with, even with internal environmental stabilization.

Once Moklor and Teela were clear, Silica and Fubuki lined up with their catapults. The fighters were thrown forward quickly off the deck into the black deep void of the stars.

"Shell Squid. This is Snowflake, falling behind you in formation" Fubuki called out as she brought her fighter in behind the Klingon. Silica stuck to her side falling in line behind Teela.

And now the continuation:

"Remember, Triumph Squadron;" Iowa said as she lined up on the catapult to launch. "Callsigns when communicating with the other squadrons, but last names between us. Do I make my orders clear?"

=A=Copy that, Riverside,=A= Nozomi radioed back with a hint of mischief evident in her reply.

Nodding, Iowa radioed the TIC.

"TIC, this is Triumph Squadron: We are go for launch." She Said.

"Triumph Squadron you are cleared for launch," Karuta's voice replied from the TIC.

With the go ahead, the catapult was activated, launching Iowa's and Nozomi's fighters to flight speed as they rocketed into the vacuum of space. Iowa never got tired of the rush that came with being flung from a catapult.

"Yippie-Ki-Yaaaaaaaay!!!" Nozomi whooped loudly as the adrenaline rush kicked in.

=A=Does she always do that when launching?=A= Lynette remarked as she lined her fighter up on the catapult alongside Sora's.

=A=You do realize you're asking someone who's only been here a couple of weeks?=A= Sora replied.

Fubuki couldn't help but smile. Thus mission was more like target practice than anything else. Clearing debris and asteroids was pretty easy, however dodging them and staying in formation was much harder.

"Snowflake to Shell Squid. Whats the plan of attack?" She asked on the broad range Starfighter comms.

"Snowflake", Moklor replied in his gruff voice. "We are rushing to the debris field marked on your targeting scanners. Nanny and I will make the first pass, targeting asteroids one and two. You and Twin-Tails will take three and four."

There were smaller pieces of debris between these larger shapes. Ducati and Triumph squadrons were heading deeper into the path of the asteroid belt. They had larger targets and could choose whether they wanted to fire in head on passes or to try hovering alongside the larger rocks and while striking them.

Teela called up to her squadron, "We're entering a fair bit of debris already", Nanny called out.

"Shell Squid to all squadrons", Moklor called out. "Clear this debris as you make way to your target areas. Recommend setting phasers to the highest heat setting. That should vaporize, rather than blast the asteroids. Larger asteroids might take several passes."

The micro-emitters would allow the phaser to vaporize the rocks piece by piece. But it would take multiple shots on each part of the rock to fully vaporize it.

"Going hot", Nanny called out over the Yamaha channel. Her fighter lit up a small, but significant asteroid which would be in the Tokyo's path.

Moklor called up next. "Targeting... Firing." His fighter and Teela's let off a burst of phaser fire which impacted with a red glow. The rocks superheated until they melted and vanished in front of their eyes.

"The larger rocks will need much more than that. Let's go", Moklor called up while increasing the throttle.

"Ducati Squadron, this is Ducati Two," called Vyse. "I see our primary target, coordinates 57-by-345-by-9. Making a pass now."

"Opening fire!" The Twins said in unison. The phaser cannons on their fighters let out bursts of intense phaser fire, striking several asteroids blasting them into millions of fragments.

Meanwhile, Fubuki and Silica were also taking out asteroids. Fubuki ducked and wiggled her starfighter around the larger rocks, blasting them with her phaser cannons. Silica stuck by her, striking through several other asteroids both young pilots unleashing relentless phaser fire on their targets.

The bright orange pulses of the phaser cannons impacted the dense rock, blasting holes into the surface before splitting them into smaller pieces. The two Starfighters double backed and unleashed yet more fire on the burnt and charred rock, the intense heat blowing them apart like fireworks in the night sky.

"Nice shooting Twin-Tails!" Fubuki said as both of them came around for another pass. There were still plenty of asteroids to take out, their primary targets were the larger bodies that threatened the safety of the station, The Tokyo and evacuation shuttles.

"Thanks Snowflake, but there's still more. We're not out of the woods yet!" Silica replied as she levelled up with Snowflakes starfighter.

An warning alarm sounded in both fighters. "Snowflake, do you see that?" Silica asked. A large asteroid was smashing its way through the others, what was strange was that it looked unaffected by the other impacts.

"Shell Squid. We've got a large asteroid on a direct course for the station. Twin-Tails and I will engage!" Fubuki reported. She signalled for Silica to follow her as both fighters made a sharp babk to port.

"Fire!" Fubuki said as she opened fire on the asteroid with her phaser cannons. A strange green shimmer rippled across the asteroids surface as the phaser fire impacted it.

"Snowflake..." Silica said I'm shock.

"Yeah I saw that too. Since when did asteroids have shields?!" Fubuki asked. "Snowflake to Shell-Squid. We have a problem sir..."
