To Taiga & Ryuuji! (Part 4)

Location: Risa Resort Main Reception Hall

Previously on Star Trek Tokyo:

Amu who had Ikuto shook her head. "How petty of Takhashi to do that..." she sighed. Ikuto looked down at her as he tightened his grip on her waist.

"Dance" he instructed her simply. The music had started playing again, but no one had started to dance again. Obviously Ikuto had read the room and had decided to lead by example.

"Yeah OK..." Amu said as she allowed herself to be led by Ikuto. It didn't take long until the room was back to normal, people drinking, laughing, dancing and having fun.

And now the continuation...

Chiyo watched as Taiga made her way back to the wedding party table. She could tell that the bride had been visibly rattled by Captain Takahashi's stunt. Chiyo motioned for Liz to come back to the table for a second.

"Liz, would you mind taking Alice onto the floor for a bit?" She asked. "I need to go use the restroom."

"Sure." Liz responded.

Chiyo turned to Alice. "Sweetie, why don't you dance with Auntie Liz for a bit? Mommy's got something to take care of."

"Okay, but you still owe me a dance!" Alice teased.

As Chiyo quietly excused herself from the table, Nozomi happened to catch a glance of suspiciously happy-looking Latina as she began to make her way towards the door. Her brow furrowed with mild curiosity, she leaned over and nudged Iowa to get her attention.

"That lady over there," she began, directing her attention over to the Latina. "What do you make of her?"

Iowa glanced over in the direction of the woman Nozomi had indicated.

"Nothing that stands out." Iowa said. "Why? Ain't you never seen a Mexican dress up before?" She asked, recognizing the woman's culture by her attire.

"She seems to be in fairly high spirits for the fact that the Captain's wedding just got crashed," Nozomi whispered. "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"

"Look, it's entirely possible that she's just had too much to drink." Iowa pointed out. "Observing her from a distance, she does come off as one of them 'hard partying' types."

"I've dealt with my fair share of drunks, and her body language doesn't exactly strike me as tipsy," Nozomi argued. "If anything, she seems to be in full control of what she's doing..."

"I don't know," Iowa said. "Sounds to me like you're trying to chase a quick and easy promotion by impressing the captain. And let me tell you, I've seen people get hurt or killed chasing a promotion by trying to be the tough guy. So whatever's going on in that head of yours, I want no part of. And I won't hesitate to put in my report that I tried to dissuade you as your squadron leader."

"I suppose you're right," Nozomi sighed as she leaned back and took a long sip of her champagne. "Can't knock a girl for wanting to help, though..."

Taiga returned to the top table and took her seat. Instead of a meal as catering, they had opted for a buffet which the staff had just finished laying out on a long side table.

"Here. Eat." Ryuuji said passing her a plate with a selection of food on. He set it down in front of Taiga and made his way around to sit next to her.

Chiyo made her way up to the wedding party table to talk to Captain Aisaka.

"Captain, I just figured I'd say that I'm just as rattled by this stunt as you probably are." She said. "That old New Orleans class ship seems to be nothing but trouble."

Taiga simply smiled. "It would seem so."

"And what a pity. I was hoping Captain Takahashi would be different from Miyahara." Chiyo sighed, shaking her head. "But it seems that, like him, she's willing to use her crew as pawns to carry out petty acts of vengeance. The question is, what do you plan to do about this?"

"Forget about it and have a good time." Taiga stated simply.

"Understood." Chiyo nodded "Congratulations, nonetheless." She said before heading off to find Liz and Alice.

"They're having a good time" Taiga said with a smirk as she looked over at Yusaka and Minori.

Ryuuji chuckled. "They've always had a thing for each other I swear." He held out his hand to Taiga. "If your belly full of food. I would like to take my wife out for a spin on the dancefloor, with a little stop by the bar."

Taiga took his hand. "It's your round." She smed as she allowed herself to be led over towards the bar.

Chiyo found Liz with Alice on the dance floor as a slow song was starting.

"Excuse me, Liz; any chance I could borrow the little lady for the dance I owe her?" She asked.

"Of course." Liz responded, stepping aside.

As Liz took Alice for their mother-daughter dance, Alice looked up into her mother's face and saw the sadness that her smiling face was betraying. Usually when her mother had that look on her face, she was thinking about one specific person:

"Thinking about dad again, mom?" Alice asked after the two of them had been dancing for a bit.

"Of course I am, sweetie." Chiyo sighed. "I think about him every day, and it's especially prominent at events like this. I'm just thinking that if your father were here, he'd be proud of the fine young lady you're becoming..."

The celebrations continued long into the evening and night. Slowly towards the end of the reception people started to filter out. Finally a slow song played, as the night started to come to an end.

Taiga, held by Ryuuji looked up at him. "This has been the best day of my life Ryuuji" she told him as together they slowly danced. Finally the music stopped and the DJ congratulated them on their marriage and closed the evening.

Ryuuji took Taigas hand. "Come with me Mrs Takasu..." he smiled as he led her away.
