Mission:
Descent
Location: Bridge
Thomas walked onto the bridge, his shirt a little singed from the explosions that went off as he was being transported away, thanks to a last second beam out by the Tokyo. "Good work on the transport guys..." He replied, he brushed off and straightened his uniform, and sat in the centre seat. "Full report." He had taken a few minutes to himself, to clear his head, although the Commander thought it was a kind of beaming tech, there was no clear evidence they were alive.
Ensign Kehl th'Kaaliq spun around in his seat with a look of relief in his eyes. The young Andorian was told by his superiors to report for his first shift on the bridge. Kehl was just glad to see the Commander was okay.
The demure Andorian kept quiet, waiting for the higher ranking bridge officers to report. He turned around momentarily to monitor the science station.
Ryuuji looked up from the Ops console. "I managed to get everyone off the station, however we burnt out most of our transporter relays doing so," he reported. "The station is now a nice floating field of debris and has entered stable orbit amongst the rings." He paused. "Captain Aisaka and several others are still missing. I use the term 'missing' as this Elachi weapon doesn't seem to be a weapon at all, but more of a transporter device with a directed beam."
He held out the Elachi weapon to Thomas. "From my readings and brief analysis, it must beam whoever gets hit by it to a predetermined location. As of yet we haven't found out where, I believe the Elachi use these to abduct people like we know they do."
Thomas took the weapon. These aren't elachi in design. Obviously. These are used mainly for high end thefts. Heard about Admiral Picard once being 'disintegrated' by one of these. Its why its been outlawed." He set it down. "This is still functional... It would be easy for us to determine where exactly they are."
Kehl stood and walked towards the XO. He unholstered the science tricorder he'd carried on the away mission as he approached. While Commander Thomas spoke, Ensign th'Kaaliq ran a detailed scan of the weapon.
The scan would slowly work outwards from within the device and examine it dozens of different ways. It started by showing Kehl what type of crystalline battery powered it. From what he saw, a good way to describe it would be a sort of 'cycler'. It worked as a firing mechanism linked to a transportation cycle.
Kehl's scientific Andorian mind worked hard to gather as much as he could from the scan's data.
Nezuko gently nudged Ryuuji to vacate her station, and then patched her console to read the data feed that Kehl was studying. A fascinating device.
She tapped her console to speak for her. "Have you estimated the device's range?"
Ryuuji respectfully stepped aside to allow Nezuko back to her station.
"These readings seem to point towards a short range transport", Kehl replied. "Wherever they were taken was not far at all. It could have been linked to ship just outside of our sensor range. Maybe even a cloaked ship, if they could transport with their cloak up."
"The Transporter is in the device," Nezuko's console said for her. "So either it is beaming to a specific location, like a ship which remains stationary, or it is locking on to some kind of beacon, one that can cut through a cloak. I think there's a beacon because beaming to preset coordinates is very risky. Even small miscalculations might mean beaming into a wall or into open space. So the weapon must know where to send people precisely."
She gestured for Thomas to step closer so she could examine the weapon more closely. She tapped one part. "This is a standard subspace receiver. It is picking up some kind of transmission from the beaming location. It will take a long time to calibrate our sensors to find that transmission, but the device is hearing the beacon now."
There was of course the risk that the Elachi might deactivate the beacon, but that they hadn't already probably meant something.
"Major Shimada, assemble a team for... disintegration." Thomas replied. "Its time to get our people back."
Chiyo nodded. "I'll have a team ready in 30 minutes."
"Commander," Ryuuji said as he stepped forward. "I want to go over with the marines. I've studied Elachi technology, I believe I can get us all back once the Marines have done their thing over there."
"If this is about the Captain, I believe going over there without a clear head is not going to make the situation better. Its why my going over there would be as equally an issue."
Ryuuji blushed a little. He wanted to go over and find Taiga himself, he felt like it was his duty as her husband to do so. "I think I can help. Plus, I get to make sure Taiga gets back safely."
Thomas paused and looked out the screen to... nothing... they are out there somewhere, close apparently. "Fine... since you are the expert on their tech currently. Just get over, save them and get back."
Ryuuji nodded. "I'll go get some equipment. I'll need a tricorder and a phaser." He said as he made his way over towards the bridge's equipment locker.
[30 Minutes Later]
It wasn't long before the group was assembled, armed with an arsenal of weapons, it was clear that they meant business.
Ryuuji stood there checking over his type two phaser pistol and setting it to heavy stun. From experience he knew that anything less than very heavy stun would just bounce off of the Elachi and their armor.
"Lets go get our people back," He said simply nodding at Thomas.
Looking at the weapon. "Good luck." Thomas replied as he aimed the weapon at the group and fired... disintegrating the group within seconds.
To be continued...
