Personality & Traits
General Overview | Motivated and excited to work in his field, Kehl loves the role of starship-borne science officer. The turn of the century marks a new era for the Galaxy. New discoveries sit just around the bend of the horizon’s light. Kehl wants to usher in a new century of space exploration from the bridge of a starship. All of the pleasantries and well-wishing ideologies would be all for not if Kehl didn’t prepare to the best of his abilities. He pushes himself to the brink, mentally and physically, just trying to improve himself. The universe is full of strange anomalies which need to be unraveled. Kehl is a team player. He understands that a starship is composed of people from different worlds, with different abilities. Working together to blend this diverse array of talent is what makes Starfleet such a capable exploration and military force. Kehl's emotions can run away from him. He doesn’t handle loss or disappointment well. His anger or jealousy can get the best of him. Meditation helps him manage this. |
Strengths & Weaknesses | Kehl works to manage his emotions and ego to try forcing himself to focus as much as possible. Starfleet is his life. There’s nothing else he wants to do. Despite his best intentions, several negative incidents mar his record. He has shown insubordination and taken dangerous risks. He still makes a fine science officer because of his dedication to the job. His top skill is his flexibility in problem solving. Kehl looks at any quandary from as many angles as possible. Riddles capture his curiosity and bring out his best efforts. Kehl likes working with a team. Making deeper connections is harder for him. He’s fought hard to establish a broad range of scientific skills. His love for the stars made Astrometrics an early focus, alongside a familiarity with alien lifeforms. |
Ambitions | Kehl has the goal of becoming a future flag officer. This is easier said than done. Kehl plans to do it. Steps along the way he hopes to accomplish include commanding a science vessel and teaching at Starfleet Academy. He also just loves a good mystery. Unravelling as much of the universe one scan at a time is his real journey. He would be remiss if he didn't also have social aspirations. Although Kehl feels pressured to join a traditional Andorian four person marriage, he is tempted date an alien. There is an appeal to having just one other partner. The Andorian way plays such a prominent role in his life that Kehl would love a break in this regard of his biology and tradition. In the distant future Kehl will need to take his place in the family business. His knowledge of planetary bodies and chemical compounds will one day be relegated to the task of hunting for ores and refining materials. |
Hobbies & Interests | Kehl enjoys collecting musical instruments from different cultures. He has a special affinity for stringed instruments. The Andorian often tries to play them, but often falls just flat in his efforts. If he focused on one particular instrument, he might develop his skill. He's more of a collector and a hobbyist. This doesn't stop him from playing music with others and desperately trying to form a band. Kehl also loves to travel. Flying runabouts around the quadrant always made for a great time. There are so many places to see and anomalies to investigate. Kehl keeps logs on every planet he visits and collects samples of soil and flora. The Andorian even maintains a collection of slimes, spores and molds for research purposes and applications. Staying active is also important. He loves playing new sports and undertaking physically challenging holodeck events. |
Personal History | Kehl comes from a large family full of Starfleet officers. This includes his twin brother Ikov. The family also runs a mining operation which has expanded to several moons and asteroids. Many of them who formerly served in Starfleet now crew family owned vessels. It was on such a ship that Kehl was raised on. Life had always been one long space trek, even since youth. He would pretend to be serving on the bridge in those early days. In the process he learned a lot about space and the way ships were run. Kehl didn’t want to be stuck working for the family. He wanted to make his own name and forge a new legacy. Kehl worked hard to make it into the Academy. There his studies took a focus on Stellar Cartography & Astrometrics. Studying the planets, stars and the mathematics behind calculating the location of objects relative to them took up a majority of his studies. Kehl also took a liking to xenobiology and xenobotany. As he learned from his studies and training, space exploration became more of an understandable reality and less of a mystery. |
