Mission: The Nursery
Timeline: After 'To the Shimadas! (Part 1)'

Previously, on Star Trek: Tokyo:

As the last of the Tokyo, Redemption, and Oning personnel that had accepted the invitation filed in, Saeko would soon have to step out to arrange the bridal party for their grand entrance.

"You think you can handle it, Lost Boy?" She asked.

"You lack faith." Masamune responded with a smile. "I'm a different man behind my DJ set, you know."

"Just remember: Confidence." Saeko instructed. "Shoulders straight, and-!"

"I get it, alright?" Masamune said. "Just get the bridal party lined up and leave the DJing to me."

As Saeko left the lounge to fulfill her duty, Masamune keyed up his microphone:

And now, the continuation:

"Tokyo, Redemption, and Oning personnel: My name is Masamune Busujima, call sign 'Lost Boy'; but tonight, I am your master of festivities!" He began with his introduction. "Now, as most everyone gathered in this room know: This is going to be one wild party! So, how many people here are ready to party and dance with us all night long?"

Taiga couldn't help but chuckle at the Ensigns enthusiasm. She didn't know him that well. She took a seat at a table with Ryuuji and relaxed into a chair. She wouldn't be doing too much movement tonight, not in her present state.

"We are longtime friends of the groom, of the bride, Maybe even both?" Masamune continued. "So, let's get this party started: Ladies and gentlemen, make some noise for your bridal party!"

Masamune began introducing the groomsmen and bridesmaids in pairs: The groomsmen consisted of male officers from the Redemption who were close to Tatsuo, while the bridesmaids belonged to the Tokyo's marine compliment and were close to Chiyo.

This included 1st Lieutenant Hann Rudd, who in addition to wearing the bridesmaid maroon, also wore her Rheuysian service cap, and when it was her introduction, Rudd proceeded to pull off a difficult trick with her hat, rolling it from her right hand across her shoulders into her left to return it to her head. The Rheuysian had been practicing the move to keep her Rheuysian ballet skills sharp, but it also worked as a nifty party trick.

When it was Liz's introduction, as she and the groomsman she was paired with busted a move on the dance floor, Liz danced in a manner to show off her small yet noticeable baby bump; a sign that the marine XO was not only accepting her situation, but flaunting it.

"And now, ladies gentlemen, and non-gendered species, put your hands together for maid of honor and daughter of the bride, Alice Shimada- escorted by the best man: Mr. Kisad Vuyi!"

Kisad led Alice through the doors into the lounge to great ovation. They made their way to the dance floor and proceeded to dance in a manner that was reflective of their growing relationship- Alice had come to view Kisad as something of a cool lost uncle, and their dancefloor chemistry showed it.

"Ladies, gentlemen, and non-gendered species, at this time we ask that you please rise, and make some noise for our newlyweds!" Masamune exclaimed. "It is my distinct honor and privilege to introduce to you- Mister and Missus Tatsuo Shimada!"

Along with the rest of the guests Taiga and Ryuuji stood up and started clapping. Taiga couldn't help but smile, she always enjoyed happy occasions like this. Especially ones she had a part in.

Sarah clapped lightly, smiling at the announcement. She wasn’t often one for social gatherings but weddings were something that she had a soft spot for.

Tatsuo and Chiyo stepped into the lounge, hand in hand, moving to the music of their entrance song serenaded by standing ovation. Together they made their way to the dance floor, playfully dancing to the entrance song before the DJ transitioned to their first dance song, Chiyo lip synced the chorus, pointing to Tatsuo before pointing to Taiga, Ryuuji, Thomas, and Talia, lip-syncing the final part of the chorus:

And don't you know,
I would move heaven and earth
to be together forever with you...

Chiyo returned to pointing at Tatsuo for the last line.

"That son of a bitch!" Nozomi laughed as she recognized the song that Masamune was playing. "He just Rickrolled us!"

"I'm sure that was done at the request of the couple." Iowa remarked as Chiyo and Tatsuo prepared to have their first dance. "Now, pipe down, will you?"

As Masamune transitioned from Tatsuo's entrance song to the first dance, Chiyo and Tatsuo took each other in their arms as the sounds of a beautiful piano melody began to play:

Now that she's back in the atmosphere
With drops of jupiter in her hair

She acts like summer and walks like rain
Reminds me that there's a time to change, hey

Since the return of her stay on the moon
She listens like spring and she talks like June, hey
Hey, hey, yeah

But tell me, did you sail across the sun?
Did you make it to the Milky Way to see the lights all faded
And that heaven is overrated?
And tell me, did you fall for a shooting star?
One without a permanent scar. and did you miss me
While you were looking for yourself out there?

Slowly, Tatsuo led Chiyo in a swaying circle as he gazed into her light brown eyes. He couldn't help but smile at the tears streaming down his new wife's face, as he knew that they were tears of pure joy: They had both waited a long time for this moment, and right now, it seemed like nobody could stop them:

Now that she's back from that soul vacation
Tracing her way through the constellation, hey, mmm

She checks out Mozart while she does Tae-Bo
Reminds me that there's a room to grow, hey, yeah

Now that she's back in the atmosphere,
I'm afraid that she might think of me as
Plain ol' Jane told a story about a man
Who was too afraid to fly, so he never did land

But tell me, did the wind sweep you off your feet?
Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day
And head back to the Milky Way?
And tell me, did Venus blow your mind?
Was it everything you wanted to find, and did you miss me
While you were looking for yourself out there?

As Chiyo danced, she looked up into Tatsuo's warm smile: She had genuinely missed it, and could help herself to go up and kiss him during the bridge of the song, prompting another round of applause.

Can you imagine no love, pride, deep-fried chicken,
Your best friend always sticking up to you:
"

Chiyo turned towards Liz during this part, with Liz raising a glass to her and Tatsuo in return.

"Hey, eyes on me, beautiful:" Tatsuo quietly instructed. He didn't want any of the tension between Chiyo and Liz to spoil their big moment.

Even when I know you're wrong?
Can you imagine no first dance, freeze-dried romance?
Five hour phone conversation
The best soy latte that you've ever had, and me?

"Thanks, Tatsuo..." Chiyo said. "I love you... I love you so much..."

But tell me, did the wind sweep you off your feet?
Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day
And head back toward the Milky Way?

"I love you too, Chiyo-kichi:" Tatsuo responded. "I'm the luckiest man in the galaxy, because of you: My Orlinga Key..."

"Awwww..."

And tell me, did you sail across the sun?
Did you make it to the Milky Way to see the lights all faded
And that heaven is overrated?
And tell me, did you fall for a shooting star?
One without a permanent scar, and did you miss me
While you were looking for yourself?

Na-na, na-na, na-na
Na-na, na-na, na-na, na-na
And did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day?
Na-na, na-na, na-na
Na-na, na-na, na-na, na-na
And did you fall for a shooting star?
Fall for a shooting star?
Na-na, na-na, na-na
Na-na, na-na, na-na, na-na
And are you lonely looking for yourself out there?

"This is an old classic," Taiga chuckled. "An interesting choice for a first dance though." She said. She looked over at Ryuuji who smiled in response se as he took a sip from a glass of wine. "Yeah, but it's their day. So they get what they want."

"Bravo!" Iowa called out as she joined in the applause when the song finished.

As the music changed to another song, a slow yet romantic melody Ryuuji rose to his feet and held a hand out to Taiga. "Will you give me this dance beautiful wife of mine?" He asked.

Taiga took his hand and couldn't help but blush. She gracefully ascended out of her chair to her feet. "I'd love to." She replied as she allowed him to lead her to the dance floor. Her heart sounded in her chest, she loved it when Ryuuji got all romantic; it wasn't often but it always made her heart flutter.

Ryuuji pulled Taiga in close, holding her by one hand and placing the other on her waist. Together they joined Tatsuo and Chiyo along with others who were eager to 'get their groove on'.

To be continued...
