Mission: Caught in the Cracks
Location: Observation Deck - Dry Dock

Taiga stood on the observations deck of the shipyard looking out at the Tokyo. The ship had now been under repair for the last six weeks and she looked brand new. She was sparkling in the bright lights and looked sleek and beautiful, just like the first time that Taiga had seen her.

She had called her returning senior officer's to the observation deck. This however was an informal meet up. Taiga wasn't in her uniform, instead a white collared shirt, grey skirt and a light red jacket. She was standing looking out, a glass of wine in her hand as she studied the vessel waiting for her officer's to return.

T'Shenn walked up with her family. She was in a black miniskirt with a white blouse. K'Eltora was in her full Klingon regalia and smiled a bit. Karlassa was in a green jumpsuit with a blue shirt.

T'Shenn nodded to Tagia and said, "Commander. My family and I just came back from the Bat'Leth tournament on Forcas III. K'Eltora here received second place. We are quite proud of her."

Karlassa smiled and nodded.

OUtside the place in the corridor just a few meters from the meeting area, Trigman had on his usual casual slacks in a black color with the shining shoes the off white long sleeve shirt that had a slight billow to the sleeves. He walk arm in arm with his wife as the attire he chose was well suited for dancing should there be any at this gathering?

"Well Love, another launch." Trigman teased his wife. "Carriers tend to do that ; launch get pounded and the after repair and upgrade to supposedly not get as pounded again relaunches..." He chuckled.

Lily was happy to have her husband's arm on hers as they approached the room. She didn't like these kinds of parties. She preferred small gatherings of her intimate friends when she socialized, though honestly evenings home with Nicolas were her favorite way to spend a night. Spending her off duty time with the senior staff, and with the Captain, wasn't her idea of a good time. But Nicolas was expected to be here for these kinds of things, so she would be here with him. She'd even pulled out one of her favorite outfits, a matching lavender sweater and skirt set that swished around her knees nicely when she wore it dancing. Not that she expected to be dancing tonight, but it was one of the things she liked about it.

"It's n-not the launch that bothers me. It's the p-party," she admitted nervously as she inched a little closer to him.

"I am sure the Captain and her moods are another factor?" Nicolas commented more than he asked. "Do not worry , there should be no command decisions here so you can be just the wife of a Wing Commander rather than a Yeoman to the Captain." He told her and gave her an assuring smile as hey started to enter the doors to the gathering party. He saw the Commander and her family along with the Captain. "Seems we are tactfully early." He commented in a low voice. "Means we can cut out early right?"

She smiled at him just a little. "I'll hold you to that," she promised.

"The pilots are a lot more fun than the Brass." Trigman winked. "And none of them beat a quiet night on a cozy sofa with a certain wife." He winked again as they were nearing the Captain. "You know her better than me you might have to make the greeting since you work for her more directly." He gave her arm a squeeze. "I will jump in after that of course."

Lily nodded but she was apprehensive as they approached the Captain uncertainly. Her moods were... mercurial, was perhaps the nice way to put it. As a student of languages, Lily knew quite a few phrases that would sum up the Captain's unpredictable and sometimes volatile personality, and not all of them things you could say in 'mixed company.' "Good evening, Captain," she said simply, waiting to see what kind of mood the other woman was in before proceeding.

Taiga turned around and smiled. "Welcome back" she replied. "I hope you had some good time off" she added.

Lily nodded.

"Hi everyone." Mimi said as she approached the gathering

Following behind Mimi was Alex Walker with his wife Meru, dressed casually but also formal enough for a gathering like this. He'd considered showing up alone, he knew how the Captain had reacted to finding out his wife was expecting, and hadn't wanted to rub salt in her wounds by bringing his very pregnant wife, but Meru wanted to come, to enjoy some time alone together before she went in to sickbay in the morning to deliver the twins.

"Evening Lieutenant," Alex remarked to Mimi, "You've met Meru?" he asked by way of introduction.

"I have yes, evening Mrs Walker." Mimi replied

Meru nodded, "Good to see you again Mimi."

Mimi then remembered what she'd heard a few weeks ago. "Con..con." Mimi stopped when she couldn't think of the rest of the word. "How are the.... grandkids?"

Meru looked at Alex briefly before she turned back to Mimi. "The grand kids are doing well. Kala is as well given all she went through. Think she's learning it's not all fun and games, motherhood."

"Especially at her age. She is very young to be a mother." Mimi added, she didn't know the specifics of how Meru's daughter became pregnant at such a young age but she knew it was considerably younger than the age of maturity.

"She is." Meru noted, her face flushing a little in embarrassment. "And it was a mistake but such is life." She wasn't about to say that Kala herself was born under very similar circumstances as well, Meru being maybe 16 at the time herself.

Xander hurried through the corridor in the middle of pulling on a dull browm jacket that hadn't been a popular style in at least fifteen years. It was, however the nicest jacket he owned and fit well with the rest of his civilian attire which was only two or three years out of date.
"Good..." He stopped short for a moment. "... to see everyone." He finished quickly in an attempt to cover up that he wasn't actually sure what time it was.

Taiga turned around to the crew. "Well then guys and girls. Looks like we've got our ship back" she explained simply. "I know the last mission was tough, but you all performed well. However, we have a lot of challenged out there to face. The question is, are you all ready to ship out again?"

T'Shenn nodded and smiled. "Course and Speed Commander?"

K'Eltora smiled and nodded as did Karlassa.

"Fighters are fueled and ready to launch on command." Trigman put in. "Even have some new shiny ones that need breaking in."

"My teams are doing one last round of checks on everything." Mimi added

For the first time in quite a while, Taiga smiled. "Well then" she said as she finished her drink of wine and placed it on a nearby table. "Lets get back aboard. We've been stuck off of ship for far too long" she began. "We leave tomorrow morning at the start of Alpha Shift, all hands report to the Tokyo" she ordered before turning back around to look at the outside of her ship one more time.

T'Shenn nodded as did K'Eltora. Karlassa giggled. She was going home and was happy about it.

Taiga looked once again at her ship, her ship. It was time for a new adventure.

To be continued....
