	Mission:
	Preserving The Past

Location: Various

Timeline: January 26th 2397

Previously on Star Trek Tokyo:
"Where is Commander Jameson?" Shauna asked.
"Dead Captain. He took a direct blast to the face three minutes in." James responded his hands running over the small tactical console. "We're down to six torpedoes, and only two functioning phaser banks. Shields at four per cent..."
"Captain!" Ensign Thornton from the helm called out. "The Tokyo has altered course, its heading back for high orbit. I believe they're trying to break through the Iconian Blockade and make a run for it..."
"Take us up Ensign! Follow their lead! Push those engines, we need to get out of here!" Shauna ordered.
And now the continuation...
[USS Tokyo Bridge]
“Kanna following us up,” Nezuko’s console said for her. “Report. It is in the line of sight for the Iconian primary weapons array.”
Taiga leant forward. "Tell the Kanna to alter course! If that beam hits them they'll be..."
However it was too late. A huge bright purple beam with white lightning like energy that crackled and span around it erupted from the cruiser. Its shot across the immense vacuum of space, engulfing the Kanna and passing straight through the Nova Class Starship.
The Kanna was split into two sections by the beam, the saucer and engineering hulls separated. Each of them seemed to drift for a second or two, as if dancing away from the beam in a slow timed romantic waltz. There was nothing anyone could do as both remaining sections of the ship were engulfed in flames and fire, exploding from their centers leaving nothing but debris.
Lieutenant Yuvek's hands momentarily stilled on his console as the tactical display showed the Kanna's complete destruction, but his professional composure quickly reasserted itself. His eyes remained fixed on his helm readings even as the massive energy beam continued toward the planet's surface. He began to make rapid course corrections to avoid the expanding debris field. "Adjusting our ascent vector to clear the wreckage."
The beam continued hitting its mark, the Preserver obelisk.
"Holy..." Taiga said outloud.
A huge mushroom cloud, bigger than any of the others rose up high into the atmosphere of Amerind where the Obelisk and Preservers were once. From its epicenter, a ring of fire began to spread across the planet as the atmosphere ignited. Amerind's skies, lush forests, beautiful mountains and climates were instantly incinerated as the ring spread slowly, burning everything in its path. Fueled by the oxygen in the air, there was no stopping the flames.
In a matter of minutes, Amerind was fully consumed by fire. The atmosphere was burning intensely and violently. The whole planet glowed colours of red, orange, yellow with faint traces of green's and blues. Its glow illuminating the hull of the Tokyo.
Then, as quick as it had started, it ended. All that was left was a charred black and scorched world. No tree's, no rivers, not even the oceans. Just a rough black and grey surface, everything was gone, destroyed and engulfed in fire.
"I want all weapons on thet cruiser! NOW!" Taiga shouted out angrily, fighting back tears from the emotional scene that had just occured on the viewscreen. The destruction of an entire planet. "Ww can't let them possess a weapon like THAT!"
Purple gateways, opened and in a flash, before the Tokyo could respond. The Iconian ships casually floated through them, disappearing.
The Tokyo, was now truly; alone.
The helm readings spiked wildly as the planetary ignition created cascading gravitational distortions. Yuvek's fingers moved across his controls, fighting to maintain their trajectory as the planet's burning atmosphere expanded violently into space. His console flickered with proximity warnings as waves of burning debris and ionized particles buffeted their shields. The ship shuddered as they pushed through pockets of vented atmosphere that glowed like stellar plasma.
Hull temperature climbing fast, he noted grimly, constantly adjusting their course to avoid the worst of the thermal columns erupting from the planet's surface. The gravitational field was becoming increasingly unstable.
Yuvek worked intently to navigate through the chaos, dodging streams of molten debris while fighting against gravitational anomalies created by the planet's death throes. The viewscreen showed the horrific spectacle of a world dying, but Yuvek kept his focus locked on his instruments, guiding the Tokyo through the maze of destruction with methodical precision.
Thomas finally made his way up to the bridge, with Chisato trailing not far behind. "Please tell me you have the villagers, or they are still down there unharmed."
Taiga was sat back in her chair, frozen still looking at the scorched world below. Slowly she turned to face Thomas. It looked like she was about to burst into tears. The sheer loss of life for no reason was eating at her inside. "We... we... got. We got only one." She was of course referring to Tahuna.
An eerie silence fell over the bridge as everyone came to grips with what had just happened. Some of them- hardened men and women who'd been seen many years, sometimes even decades in this service, had begun to cry as they realized that they had just bore witness to the near-total destruction of an innocent pre-warp society; a heartless act of cruelty instigated against an otherwise innocent group of people who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
"Oh, My God..." Chisato gasped as she buried her face in her hands.
"I think I already know the answer..." Taiga stated. "But we're have to be sure... any lifesigns?" She asked simply.
Nezuko just shook her head. Zero life signs. And not just no human life signs. No animals. No plants. Not even microbes. The entire ecosphere has been obliterated in an instant.
That also meant no Preserver. They killed a god.
No. They killed a planet so they could kill a god.
Thomas paused, all those lives, the children playing the infants, the pregnant women, the men enjoying life. Walking over to the console beside Lt Nezuko, he ran the scans himself. Taking a deep breath, "Those lives are on our heads, our hands are bloodied until we bring this to an end."
Taiga pulled herself up out of her chair. "All stop." She ordered. "Lieutenant," she looked over at Nezuko. "Shipwide announcement."
Nezuko nodded and opened the internal comm line. The electronic bosun whistle sound let her know the channel was open.
"All hands, this is the Captain. The battle with the Heralds is over. You may all stand down from your battlestations. However, the Starship Kanna was lost with all hands." She paused for a brief moment. "We have also just confirmed that the Heralds attack on Amerind has destroyed all life on the surface." Another pause from Taiga. "We will be holding position here until Starfleet Command issues us new orders. Captain Aisaka, out."
The silence on the bridge after Taiga's announcement was deafening. It seemed to last forever hours, hanging in the air like an unpleasant smell. Finally, Taiga broke that silence. "Commander Johnson. Have everyone start on repairs. I'll be in my ready room. I don't want to be disturbed."
With that said she quickly strode across the bridge and disappeared through the ready room doors.
As Jen stood at tactical, the stress of everything finally took it's toll; silent tears streaming down her . "Commander, I think I need to take a few minutes." She said as she wiped them away. "I'm not ok."
