Mission: The Nursery
Location: Elachi nursary
Timeline: Current

Previously on Star Trek Tokyo:

"Commander, I agree, this does seem easy. But something isn't right. Its too quiet especially if this is their main breeding, transformation centre... Its not going to be all fun and games. I can guarantee it." Thomas replied as he entered the tubes.

"They already know we're here, and they've probably figured out why." Daxer said calmly, looking between Chisato and Thomas. "The Elachi are brutal, and highly intelligent creatures. The best option is to always assume any obvious path is a trap. Better to be prepared and be wrong, than to be wrong and unprepared."

And now the continuation...

"Sometimes the best path is the crowded, if they know we are here," He paused, "The likelihood of these tubes being not picked up on sensors, is unlikely. Especially what we know of the Elachi..." He paused not going further. "Its the route they want us to go. They probably allowed her to navigate her way through the station in case we got onboard." He turned to the Ensign. "Ensign, hand me the firearm please, we have your back, you won't be needing it."

"You... You... Want the phaser back?" Syaro asked nervously.

"It's OK, you have the group of us with you. We don't want you doing anything that you may regret with it." Thomas replied as he thought more about it. "Daxer what's the Intel of Elachi brainwashing crew. I don't want an officer working for the enemy. Knowing where we are and causing us issues later on."

Syaro held out the phaser to Daxer. "Wait... They can... do that?" She asked nervously. "They can brainwash people? I didn't... know that." the young ensign stuttered.

"Its not unheard of, we don't know why it's so quiet here. It's nothing against you Ensign. It truly isn't, I just want to cover my bases, and make sure everyone else gets rescued." He paused. "These people will go to any length. Romulans have been known to use mind control brainwashing... most of which those affected, doesn't even realize it. The tal shiar was responsible for money enterprise incident a couple decades ago."

The young ensign nodded. "I understand sir." She replied.

"Daxer, Commander... considering our intel, do we still follow the tubes, knowing that they may want us to go that way, or do we go another way?" He replied, "Its riskier, and may be going into a trap."

Nezuko, who had been more silent than usual to this point, intervened with the text-to-speech on her tricorder. "Perhaps we split the group?"

"I haven't heard anything about the Elachi brainwashing their victims, but it's not beyond the realm of possibilities." Daxer said, taking the phaser, sticking it in her pocket. "Those tubes are a death trap. If we get caught in there, we have no place to run. I say seal them up, and keep right on going... together."

Thomas nodded in agreement, sometimes the known way is definately not the best way. Plus splitting up would definately diminish their chances, smaller teams, would not hold up against a horde of elachi. Closing the tube. "Through those doors there. Perhaps we can hack into a computer. Nezuko, you up for the challenge."

The Ops Chief nodded before going to a computer terminal. She typed away on the terminal while thumb-typing on her tricorder. She turned to Thomas and quickly signed {This will take a moment. Please cover me.}

Kurumi crossed her arms. "Bring the computer expert along... Don't use her..." she grumbled quietly.

"Next time, Kurumi-Chan," Chisato smiled, placing a hand on Kurumi's shoulder.

At that moment, the doors on the otherside of the room opened. They swirled around like some old fashioned science fiction hatch, the metal retreating into the frame. Six Elachi rushed through, their long legs taking large strides. Each of them carried some sort of rifle, and they immediately opened fire.

Green bursts in the shape of crescents darted across the room, striking sone of the equipment around the Starfleet crew. These Elachi didn't seem like scientists this time, they looked more like security than anything else.

"This is what I was expecting." Thomas replied as he turned to the Ops chief, "Get to work, we will cover you. Lt Kurumi, shes going to need your help." Her turned to the other group. "I guess this is where the fun begins. Cover them while they do their thing."

Nodding, Chiyo turned to the marines:

"You heard the boss! Light 'em up!" She barked.

Within seconds of the order leaving Chiyo's mouth, the marines opened fire: The yellow-orange phaser blasts traveling in the direction opposite the Elachi weapons fire.

Thomas began firing his own weapon, before taking the ensign, and running her around the corner to cover. He took his the extra weapon. "I apologize, I should never have taken yours away, dont worry about using it, unless you absolutely have to."

As the Elachi security fell one by one, the door opened behind them and yet more Elachi took their place. Each of them not hesitating to open fire on the Starfleet teams.

Yoshika was trying her hardest to stay out of the crossfire, keeping low as she returned the occasional shot from her phaser. She peeked out from her cover spot, mainly to get a look at where the Elachi were. She was only a field medic, she wasn't the best at combat.

A pulse of the Elachi's green weapons fire struck her in the shoulder. It was painful and she had felt this before, she knew exactly what it was. In an instant she disappeared as if she was vaporised.

"Major! Commander!" Kurumi called out. "Miyafuji is gone!"

That attracted attention to her as the Elachi began to focus on the young intelligence officer. She found herself pinned down as green bolts of energy narrowly missed her. "I'm pinned do..." she didn't get a chance to finish as a burst of the Elachi weapons fire impacted her and she too was gone in a haze of green.

"SHIT!" Chisato cursed for the first time that any one could remember her doing so. "We just lost Kurumi-Chan!""

"We will add them to the people we are here to rescue." Thomas replied as he turned and took down a few more elachi. "Hows it coming with those computers."

Nezuko flashed a quick sign meaning Almost there.

Daxer was taking cover behind a bulkhead. Seeing two of the others vanish made her temper flare. She stepped out just a bit, bringing her gun up to point at one of the Elachi soldiers. The Vulcan woman pulled the trigger three times in rapid succession firing explosive rounds at the head of her target. The first two punched a hole in the personal shield, and the third made a bloody mess before what remained of the body crumbled to the floor.

That quickly got the attention of the remaining Elachi, as they changed their aim to Daxer, tagging her before she could duck back into hiding. She vanished on the spots as if vaporized.

"They've got Daxer, too!" Takina shouted, turning her attention to Chiyo. "We're going to need to end this, and fast!"

"Last time I ended things fast, I had a supply of knock out gas, which put everyone out including us. Except for Nezuko." He turned to the Lt. "Any knock out gas at our disposal by any chance?" He asked, as he continued firing in the door way. "The only plus side, with them only getting the females currently, we know they want them alive. Its us males that they don't have much use for."

"Sorry, sir! Fresh out of knock out gas!" Chiyo shouted as she continued to fire at what seemed like wave after wave of Elachi.

Ducking back behind cover, Liz banged her combadge with her firing hand.

"Rudd, can you get the door sealed?" She asked.

"I can try, but..." Rudd began before her comm signal suddenly cut off: The Rheuysian had been caught as well.

"Motherf..." Chiyo trailed off. "That's Rudd as well! If anyone's got a rabbit hiding in their hat, now would be the time to pull that sombitch out!"

"Well, it may not be knockout gas, but I reckon it's the next best thing!" Chisato replied as she retrieved another smoke grenade and unclipped the pin. "Stand back!"

She proceeded to lob the grenade into the center of the room, enveloping everyone in a cloud of smoke.

Knowing it was probably not the best idea, it was the only one right now. "Fall back to the tubes. We ain't doing nothing here in the open."

Their escape door suddenly cracked open, a testament to Nezuko's success. But it didn't open far. Enough to get fingers through. She ran to it and started prying, getting it to where smaller members of the team might fit through. But it was an escape option.

Having switched her scope to heat seeking to continue picking off the Elachi in low visibility, Chiyo fell back to cover her comrades. When she glanced back to check on Nezuko's progress, she could see that with the opening that Nezuko had managed to pry open was too small for her to fit through.

And if it was too small for her, Thomas, who was even larger than her, would never fit.

"Are you crazy?" Chiyo asked. "We'll never fit through there!"

"Then help widen!" Nezuko's tricorder chirped for her as she pulled the door, making a little bit of progress.

Looking at the Commander, they both worked together, and opened the hatch further, "Quick all of you get in now." He noticed the smoke starting to dissipate. Starting to see additional Elachi. "Commander you brought some of those noise makers right."

It seemed like more Elachi now entered the room, they were starting to close in on the Starfleet away team. Still laying out cover fire and attempting to keep the intruders somewhat contained.

Thomas grabbed the noisemakers from the Commander, and shoved the rest of the group into the tubes. "Finish the Mission Commander, I will buy you some time. Ensign, lead the way down..." Sure it may be a trap, but they stood no chance it seemed going the open route either. Damned if they do damned if they don't. He closed the hatch, and found the device to lock it, ensuring no one could go in behind them. He raised his rifle, fired a couple of shots, and threw a noise maker down the direction of the weapons fire, and quickly went down the corridor the opposite way. Hoping they would take the bait.

To be continued!
