Mission: The Nursery
Location: Conference Room, Deck 1, USS Tokyo

It had only been a four days since the Tokyo had docked at Starbase 234. The corps of Engineers had been working around the clock repairing the ship from its brief stay on the planet in the Karlax Nebula. Most of the ships primary systems had been restored back to full operational status and the stolen Borg Power Nodes had been installed permanently. It turns out that they actually made the ship better than it was before, although one had been removed for further study in order to improve on new designs.

Meanwhile the crew had been enjoying some well deserved time off. Most of the crew had remained around the areas of the Starbase, Captain Aisaka included.

However at eight thirty that morning she recieved a message marked as Priority One, Urgent. "Captain Taiga Aisaka. Report aboard the USS Tokyo Immediately. All crew shoreleave has been cancelled and all personnel of the USS Tokyo are to report aboard immediately. An emergency classified briefing will be held tomorrow morning at 08:00 followed by immediate departure on recipient of orders. Signed Starfleet Command."

Therefore, there Taiga stood at the doors of the Tokyo's briefing room. They were locked from the inside. She looked back at the crew on the bridge. "Ensign," she said at the Ensign manning the nearest station. "Who is in there?" She asked.

"Sorry Captain. I've been ordered not to tell you. Only to say that once your staff is all present you'll be let in... Sorry Captain." He replied rather nervously.

"Fair enough..." Taiga said. Safe to say she was a little confused. "I guess we wait for the senior staff to show and then we go in."

Much to Taiga's surprise, Chisato was the first of the senior staff on scene, having arrived in such a hurry from her (abbreviated) vacation at the Kantai Colony that she hadn't even had time to change back into her duty uniform. So, it made for a bit of an odd sight for her Chief of Intelligence to be showing up to a priority one briefing in a peach sundress, a wide-brimmed sunhat, and flip-flops, but she did at least have a PADD on her for taking notes, so at the very least she was being proactive about this.

"Captain?" she asked with a look of concern. "I got here as fast as I could; what's the situation?"

"I was hoping you'd be able to tell me," Taiga said as she leant against the bulkhead. "The doors are locked, and apparently we're not allowed in just yet."

Chisato tilted her head to one side. "Hold on, you're telling me that you don't know what's going on?"

"I'm as much in the dark as you." Taiga shrugged.

Chiyo was next to show up, evidently disappointed that her and Tatsuo's honeymoon was cut short, but behind her disappointment was comfort that Tatsuo wouldn't have to leave her side again now that they would be assigned to the Tokyo together.

"Sorry about the delay, Captain: We hopped on the next transport as soon as we heard our shore leave was cancelled." She explained. "It's a long journey all the way from Earth, though:"

"Well, it wasn't me who called you back." Taiga said in response. "And we're not allowed into the briefing room yet it seems."

"Well, if you didn't recall us, then who did?" Chiyo asked.

Lt. Jasad Yuvek exited the turbolift and stepped onto the bridge and was taken aback by the very casual appearance of the Chief of Intelligence. Jasad figured that not everyone had immediate access to their quarters or their effects if they had chosen to take shoreleave away from the Tokyo unlike him.

"Captain" The Chief Helmsman said as he walked over to the gathered senior staff members.

Thomas walked over to the senior staff. Looking around, "I take it nobody is happy." He replied looking around the group. Given he and Talia were in the midst of something when they got the recall order, he was a bit cranky himself.

"Please tell me you know what's going on here, Commander?" Chisato asked nervously.

"Wish I did. Considering what was interrupted. " He replied as he looked over to the Captain. Considering he wasn't briefed, kinda made him feel she might have been in the same boat as everyone else.

"Well, that's just great..." Chisato sighed as she carefully considered their options. "Let's see... you're married to a Betazoid, aren't you, Commander? Couldn't we just use Lieutenant Johnson to try and see who's on the other side of that door?"

"I would ask if she were here, shes just going to be a moment." Thomas replied

"Can't," one of the Ensigns interjected. "We've been ordered to tell you that using a Betazoid is cheating."

"Killjoy," Chisato pouted.

“Is it now?” Talia joined everyone else giving her husband a smile before looking as annoyed as everyone else. “Some of us were... enjoying ourselves.” She sighed. “They do realise a tired crew is dangerous do they not?”

Smiling, "Anyway, changing the subject... did anyone get any sleep?"

Nezuko was next on the scene, happily taking a spot next to Talia. She waved to the gathered senior officers. Her higher energy level was telling. She had gotten sleep; she hadn’t gone far, sticking with a room on Starbase 234 that had variable atmosphere but was larger. She’d spent her time in correspondence with her family, including hours-long video calls with her family, especially her brother.

She gave Talia and Thomas a smirk. Something they were giving off was telling about what they were doing before being so rudely interrupted.

Once everyone had gathered the doors swished open and there stood a Lieutenant Commander. She smiled at the crew of the Tokyo and turned to Taiga. "Apologies for the wait everyone. You may come in now." She said.

Taiga led her crew into the briefing room. At the head of the table where she would sit sat an elderly man in an Admiralty uniform. Taiga recognised him immediately. It was Admiral Nakamura, the same Admiral who once ordered snap-inspections aboard the USS Enterprise D and at one point wanted Lieutenant Commander Data to be dismantled for study. By now however he had made it to full four star Admiral and was well known as being an important man in the highest tiers of Starfleet.

"Captain Aisaka. You and your crew may take a seat." He said giving her a warm yet stern smile. Taiga nodded in response indicating for the crew to take seats, she herself sliding into what would usually be Thomas's spot. She looked over at her Exec and mouthed silently 'Sorry' for taking his usual seat. Afterall now wasn't the time to fuss over seat arrangements.

"Admiral." Thomas replied as he noticed who was sitting at the end of the table, he nodded to the Captain. Before taking his secondary position which was leaning on the window. Glancing down at a padd he had brought.

Wordlessly, Chiyo moved to take her seat, which was this time situated next to the Captain, who had taken the XO's normal seat.

"Are we in trouble, Admiral?" Chisato asked nervously as she took a seat adjacent Chiyo.

The Admiral didn't respond to her, just gave her a stern look.

"I'll take that as a yes..." Chisato sighed as she sank back into her seat.

Lieutenant Jasad Yuvek merely entered the room and took his seat further down the conference room table and sat and just observed while he waited for the Admiral to begin speaking.

Once everyone was seated. "Two days ago we received a distress call and a warning." Nakamura started. "It is important that you see this for yourselves."

He leaned forward and pressed one of the buttons on the table's control panel. The lights on the room dimmed and the wall screen activated. There the message from Captain Yuri Nakamura played, her plea for rescue, the warning about the Elachi and the Iconians and then the final part of her being dragged away.

Taiga sat there her eyes wide open. She thought that Yuri had been killed when the Oceania was destroyed. But there she was, captured by the Elachi and being used as nothing more than a breeding vessel.

"My God..." Chisato gasped as the video feed cut. "That... that was a lot to take in..."

Talia shook her head, the terror was there to feel as well as see. “I can’t imagine what those women are going through.”

Chiyo only felt anger upon seeing the transmission: She still hadn't forgotten that the Elachi bastards were behind her getting shot.

Nezuko’s reaction was silent and mixed. Mostly sadness, with a touch of fear and anxiety, and a bit more anger.

Nakamura allowed the contents of the transmission to sink in. "We've traced the source of the signal. The co-ordinates have already been uploaded into the ships computers," he explained simply. "Your orders are simple. I want you to rescue Yuri... I mean Captain Nakamura and any of her surviving crew. Shut down that 'nursery' of theirs and pull everything byte of information out of them " he told them.

"Once you've done that. Feel free to wipe that place off the map so it can't be used against others," Nakamura said his eyes narrowing in anger. "You are cleared to exceed any warp speed limitations and use any necessary means to achieve this mission."

"Admiral..." Taiga said. "Is Captain Nakamura by any chance.. "

"Captain." Nakamura replied quickly cutting Taiga off. "If you're about to ask about if Captain Nakamura is related to me, then the answer is yes. She is my granddaughter and I have no intention of sitting here knowing she is being used like that!" He slammed a fist down on the table. "This is a personal request Captain. Get her back alive. If she can't be saved then..." he paused for a few seconds an eerie silence hung in the room. "You are to end her suffering."

To be continued...
