Mission: The Nursery
Location: Pilots Briefing Room
Timeline: Immediately After Part 1

Previously on Star Trek Tokyo:

"Wouldn't a diamond-slot formation be more energy-efficient for the shield extensions?" Hanna spoke up.

Fubuki shook her head. "We want to hit them with everything we've got. So all weapons forward."

"The next stage of my plan is simple. We stick in close formation, come around the moon over the planets northern pole. We know that the magnetic interference should keep us invisible to enemy sensors until we clear it." Fubuki explained to the room. She looked around at the pilots. "Of course, it will blind our sensors too. So we'll be flying purely on sight alone..."

And now the continuation...

"What's our plan once we clear the pole?" Sora remarked.

"We take out vital areas to make it easier for the Tokyp to try and beam up the hostages. If not then it'll be easier for Marines and Security to beam down." Fubuki said. "Then we ensure we control the airspace."

"Miss Daxer has provided is with more detailed scans and information of the Elachi facility." Fubuki continued. She looked over to Jennifer.

Jen stood up from where she'd been sitting, moving to the podium. She set her PaDD down on top of it, tapping a button to transfer it's scans to the main display.

"Good morning. For those who don't know me, my name is Jennifer Daxer. I'm a civilian contractor for Starfleet, assigned to assist you on your mission." With a tap of her finger on her PaDD, the main display zoomed in, quickly enhancing the now enlarged image of the asteroid station. Two areas of interest lit up, each highlighted in a different color on opposite ends of the facility. "The red tag is the shield generator, and the green one is the communications array. These should be your first targets, and they need to be taken down red first, then green."

She tapped the PaDD again, causing the display to pan around what was visible of the facility, giving the pilots a decent view of the environment they'd be flying in. A few other spots lit up in yellow. "The station is minimally armed with only a handful of turrets, but I advise that you don't get overconfident." She said, looking at the group of fighter pilots. "The Elachi know about the message that was sent. There are no detectable indications of changes, but there is every chance that they will have additional defenses in preparation for a retaliatory strike against them. Do not let your guard down... Any questions?"

"Yes, we're forgetting one thing." Lt. Yuvek chimed in form his seat.

"This plan appears to be functional and simple enough, but it is ignoring the very looming threat of the Tal'Shiar." He said as he looked around. "There is very little chance the Elachi would allow a facility so important to them remain this sparsely defended." He said as he stood and walked over to the main display.

"If I were the Elachi, I would have no problem allowing an invasion force to expend their weapons and forces tackling a group of turrents and stationary disruptors. It would buy enough time for my Romulan reinforcements to arrive." He said as he pointed to screen.

"The Tokyo is going to need at least 90 seconds to get a full lock and capture the hostages and store them in our pattern buffers." He said. "...In theory Nezuko and Graesyn can hold them in the buffers for a short time before we have to rematerialize them." The Cardassian explained.

"But it'll take a hell of a lot of power to maintain constant tactical, maneuvering thrusters, as well as tunneling through raised shields to beam out the hostages." He added.

"That means that once the Elachi Calvary arrives, the fighters will be on their own for roughly 90 seconds since so much power will go to maneuvering and defending against the Tal'Shiar and whatever they decide to throw at us." The Helmsman said.

Taiga nodded. "That's if we can lock onto the hostages in the first place." She stated. "As for the Tal Shiar, there is a possibility of cloaked ships popping up on us. We should be ready to engage them too."

"If the hostages are being held in a shielded location. Then once their shields and defensive systems are down we will beam down two assault teams." Taiga said. "However, that's a different meeting." She looked over at Fubuki and then to Jased and finally to Daxer.

"This is going to be coordinated down to the second. Can you three do this?" Taiga asked simply.

Fubuki hesitated for a brief second as she thought it over. She looked at the pilots and could see the eagerness and determination in their eyes. "Aye Captain. I think we can pull this maneuver off "

Could he pull off such daring feat a navigational excellence? Yes. Was he confident that every Fighter pilot would make it back to the Tokyo without being blown to bits? No. But Jasad was not going to sour the mood by being a realist. So instead he opted to engage in blissful optisim.

"Absolutely, ma'am!" He said in a less than genuine tone.

"Before anyone jumps to more conclusions, there are no distortions in the area consistent with cloaking technology." Jen confirmed with a raised eyebrow. "With that said, I can coordinate from tactical, however some of your officers might not appreciate a civilian manning a bridge station."

"So, the way I'm understanding this, it sounds like the goal of this mission will be to punch our way through their shields, take out the generators, and then circle back around to take out the communications array," Nozomi observed. "While that's going on, the Tokyo will be preparing to beam down an away team to try and rescue the hostages; will it be safe to assume that the fighters will be assuming a holding pattern around the facility to protect the away team from Elachi and/or Romulan reinforcements?"

"I'd suggest the initial assault should include the shield generators, and the Communications array in one attack run, from one end of the facility to the other." Daxer said, without missing a beat. "Based on what we already know, a sustained heavy attack in one spot of their shields will punch a hole that we can then use to destroy the shield generators. Without their shields, we destroy their communications to keep them from calling reinforcements."

"The Tokyo can hold off whatever the facility will throw at it and still be able to get an evac away team inside. The problem becomes what happens once Elachi and their Romulan friends show up en masse." Lt. Yuvek said.

"We'll be under constant attack, so we won't be able to drop our shields. Since our shields will remain active, the Tokyo won't be able to maneuver too far of a distance from the facility in order to beam the teams through." Lt. Yuvek explained.

"Its going to be difficult to say the least to get my team and I over." Thomas replied as he looked at the screen. "With everything, I am sure that we are expecting surprises."

"We'll be bringing a few surprises of our own to hopefully even the odds a bit." Jen added casually. She tapped her PaDD again.

The screen split in two. On one side was the sensor image of the facility, and the other was a set of various weapon schematics.

"I know at least some of you are familiar with classic projectile weapons. These in particular are from Earth's early 21st century." The Vulcan woman said simply as she highlighted one in particular. "The surprise is that the projectiles will have low yield explosive tips as a potential countermeasure against their existing defenses... Check your shots, and don't hit the hull."

"The P90, I've been trained in, they are accurate, and can be sent to auto fire, or single shot. Do we have a selection of weapons we will be taking?" Thomas asked, truth be told, the opportunity to use, antique weapons from the 21st century intrigued him.

"So you all plan on discharging chemically combustible projectiles inside of a sealed environment with the hopes that you do not puncture the hull that is surrounded by the vacuum of space?" Lt. Yuvek asked incredulously.

"I'm assuming you all plan on wearing environmental suits just in case someone's aim isn't up to par?" He continued.

"We'll go over those details with the assault teams that will be beaming down." Taiga said interrupting them. She turned to Fubuki. "Once you have disabled the necessary systems I want the Starfighters to circle around us running scouting patrols." She said.

"Aye Captain." Fubuki replied. She looked back at the pilots sat in the rows of seating. "I assume that we'll be there to intercept any unfriendlies?"

Taiga nodded in response. "Yes. If any Elachi or Tal Shiar ships show up, you are authorised to use any necessary force and intercept them. Hopefully this will give us a little time for the Tokyo to beam back our people and then come and assist you."

Fubuki pondered for a moment. It was almost like they were being used as cannon fodder. But then again, it was a good tactic. She knew that her pilots had it in them to do what had to be done. "Aye Captain." she replied simply.

"Good." Taiga said. She turned to the rest of the room. "You all know the plan." She stated to everyone present. "Is there anything else that any of you need to ask? Ask now."

"I think we have all our bases covered, Captain," Nozomi nodded in the affirmative.

Taiga nodded. "Good. Then I shall take my leave. Prepare yourself for the upcoming attack and... good luck." With that said she turned and walked out of the door.

Fubuki turned to face her pilots. "You heard our Captain. Pilots dismissed."
