Mission:
Starship Graveyard
Location: Holodeck One
Timeline: After 'A Promise Worth Keeping (Part 2)'
Previously, on Star Trek: Tokyo:
When the regs came to my door after the Redemption had been missing to deliver the awful news, I suppose I never left the denial stage of grief: Something about Starfleet's decision just didn't sit right with me: It had only been a month since the Redemption first failed to report in, and I have since seen Starfleet search for missing ships for far longer than that. Add on to that my discovery of your 'parting gift', who is standing here today as my maid of honor, and I knew Starfleet was covering something up. That's why I joined the marine corps instead of regular Starfleet: To get to the truth of what happened.
Captain Aisaka can vouch for me on this, but in the days leading up to our Karlax excursion, I was an emotional wreck: I knew that this was the same place where the Redemption had vanished all those years ago, and I was dreading the answers that might have awaited me. But in a way, I'm glad for what happened next: For after we crashed, the first raiders to discover us were none other than crewmembers of the Redemption, and you were among them..."
Chiyo began tearing up.
"Words cannot describe the joy and relief I felt that day: To finally be proven right after 14 years of being told I was wrong..." Chiyo sniffled, as recalling it became unbearable. "I'm sorry..."
And now, the continuation:
Chiyo took a moment to compose herself before continuing:
"Words also cannot describe the mental anguish my own crewmates would put me through: Degrading you to little more than a pirate and a vulture. I threatened to walk away outright if we couldn't find common ground between our crews. But I'm sure all those same people are glad that we did, because getting back into space wouldn't have been possible without the collective efforts of everyone working together.
I spent fourteen years not giving up on you, and I'm glad that you're not willing to give up on me either: And that's why I promise to love you in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part."
Taiga looked over at Kisad, as best man he had the rings. She indicated that he should hold them out for both to take.
Nodding, the Bajoran man proceeded to oblige the officiant, holding out the rings for the newlyweds.
"Tatsuo. Do you take Chiyo to be your beloved wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do you part?" Taiga asked.
"I do." Tatsuo replied.
Taiga then turned to Chiyo. "And in response, Chiyo do you take Tatsuo to be your beloved husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do you part?"
"I do." Chiyo responded, a tear of joy rolling down her cheek.
"Tatsuo. Place the ring onto Chiyos finger and then repeat after me," Taiga said. "I Pledge to you all that I am and all that I will ever be as your husband. With this ring, I gladly marry you and join my life to yours."
Tatsuo took the ring from Kisad and slid it onto Chiyo's finger, the gleaming new wedding ring forged from salvaged hull plates of the Redemption a stark contrast to the cracked and charred engagement ring it was placed against.
"I pledge to you all that I am and all that I will ever be as your husband." He recited. "With this ring, I gladly marry you and join my life to yours."
"Now, your turn Chiyo. Just like Tatsuo, take the ring and repeat after me." Taiga said. ""I Pledge to you all that I am and all that I will ever be as your wife. With this ring, I gladly marry you and join my life to yours."
Chiyo took the remaining ring from Kisad, who proceeded to retake his place behind Tatsuo, his ceremony role complete.
"I pledge to you all that I am and all that I ever will be as your wife." Chiyo smiled as she slid the ring onto Tatsuo's finger. "With this ring, I gladly marry you and join my life to yours."
There was a moment of pause before Taiga spoke again. "By the power vested in me by Starfleet and the United Federation of Planets. It is my honour to officially pronounce you man and wife." Taiga stated. She looked at Tatsuo. "Go on, you know what's you want to do..."
Tatsuo didn't need further instruction, as he took Chiyo in his arms and sealed the deal with a kiss as applause erupted from the guests. Chiyo's tongue moved forward into Tatsuo's mouth just as it had the day they reunited, though not as far as it had that day.
As the 'kiss' started to become more abd more intimate Taiga spoke up. "Woah there guys." She said holding a hand out slightly. "Save that for tonight. How about you get Chiyo down the aisle first Tatsuo?"
"Of course, ma'am." Tatsuo nodded, turning towards the audience. "Arch!" He called out with a newfound confidence, summoning the entrance to the holodeck, which had vanished when Chiyo walked down the aisle.
Tatsuo looked back at Taiga and gave her a wink, trusting the officiant knew what to do next.
"Ladies and Gentlemen. Introducing Mister and Missus Shimada!" Taiga announced proudly allowing them start their walk down the aisle.
With a fresh round of applause, Chiyo and Tatsuo began their walk, arm-in-arm, down the aisle as husband and wife. Complements being shouted at the bride and groom from both sides as they waved back.
As Chiyo and Tatsuo were partway down the aisle, Kisad took Alice by the arm and together they proceeded to follow them, starting the process of the bridesmaids and groomsmen linking up and walking down the aisle in pairs.
Taiga remained standing at the Alter watching them leave, a proud smile on her face. Finally Chiyo and Tatsuo had the happy ending that they had been searching for. However she knew all too well that their journey together was only beginning.
