Team Flight Vs Team Operations & Engineering

Ensign Mikko Ishigami was starting to wonder why Lieutenant Yuvek had opted to stay on the ship. However that was his choice. She would have liked him to lead the small team of Flight Control officers in the tournament, it would have been nice to see him in this sort of role. However she realised that Risa was not for everyone. Therefore, as an officer on team flight control she had to represent her department. She couldn't help but smile as she made her way towards the pitch, hoping that they could show the Operations and Engineering team who was the better team.

A small group of flight control officers were gathering about the pitch, chatting excitedly amongst themselves about the upcoming tournament. One of them, a tall blonde, happened to spot Mikko out of the corner of his eye and waved her over. This, if Mikko was remembering names correctly, was one Ensign Chuck Marigold, a fairly recent Academy graduate and star player on the Academy volleyball team (at least, according to him); he could be a bit of a brag when it came to sports (especially volleyball), but he was more on the harmless side of the spectrum.

"Long time no see, Ishigami!" he called out. "I take it Lieutenant Yuvek's not coming?"

Recognising the Ensign, Mikko smiled. "Oh hi there Marigold. I didn't know you'd been assigned to the Tokyo!" She said with a smile. Indeed Mikko remembered him from her Academy days, she had shared a few classes when she was in her final year with him. She didn't really know him very well as he was a freshman the year she graduated, but she had spoken to him before.

"Ah... yeah, what can I say? I got a golden horseshoe up my ass," Marigold boasted with a swell of pride. "To be assigned to the USS Tokyo fresh out of the Academy? You guys can keep your Enterprises, but this ship is where it's at! Fast action, fast women..." -he shot Mikko a mischievous smirk as he said that- "...What more could an aspiring young Ensign ask for?"

"Fast women huh... are you trying to hit on me?" Mikko asked with a smirk. "Is it because I'm in this bikini, you actually built up the courage to use one of your cheesy pickup lines on me... The ones you were too nervous out to use on me at the Academy?" She teased him.

Now it was Chuck's time to blush as his fellow officers burst out laughing.

"Really, Chuck? For all your showboating antics, you mean to tell us you couldn't pick up chicks?!"

"Virgin! Chuck Marigold is a virgin!"

"I'll get you back for this one, Ishigami, just you wait," Chuck retorted, though it was clear in his tone of voice that he was being more playful than actually threatening.

Mikko laughed as she put an arm around his shoulders and pulled him in gently. "Oh don't be like that!" She said to him softly. "You never know, you might get lucky one day" she assured him giving him a cheeky wink. "Afterall there are plenty of 'fast women' on the Tokyo. But right now, we need your volleyball skills to show those Engineers who's boss, got it?"

"Are you kidding? I was on the Volleyball team back in the academy!" Chuck boasted. "This is going to be a cakewalk!"

Mikko pinched his cheek much like a grandmother would do to young children. "Aww look at you, aren't you cute. Don't underestimate this crew, they've literally been through life and death together!"

Chuck grinned. "Then what's say we make a little bet out of this, sweet-cheeks? If we win this match, then the two of us go at it for about... what's say, three rounds back at the hotel room?"

"You wouldn't last three rounds with me Chuck." Mikko teased him. "It's not about speed you know, it's technique. That's piloting 101," she winked at him.

"Need some aloe for that burn, Chuck?" another one of his buddies remarked, prompting another round of laughter.

"It's only going to be a matter of time before you'll be eating your words, Pal," Chuck retorted.

"Let's play!" Mikko called as she picked up the ball.

The match ended with the Team Flight taking the final point and the win. Mikko couldn't help but smirk at Chuck once they had won. She wasn't quite sure where this whole thing was actually going, but it all seemed like good fun. At least Team Flight was through to the next round.

Team Security Vs Team Science

Lieutenant Junior Grade Bethany Pallister stepped onto the pitch. She was enjoying being part of the Tokyos security department, and loved the fact that their captain had arranged some friendly competition. Her teal blue cropped swimwear showed off her curves and sleek body as she stood in the sunlight. She began to tie up her strawberry blonde hair into a ponytail as she walked onto the pitch. Secretly she wanted team Security to get through so they could hopefully face off against the Marine team!

An Andorian stood on one side of the net. His bare blue back rested against the pole. Silver-white trunks matched the bobbed mop of hair underneath his twitching antennae. Kehl had never played volleyball before or heard much about it.

The Andorian science officer was not much of a fan of human sports. Playing a little volleyball still seemed like an intriguing prospect. Kehl turned to Lt. JG Pallister and smiled. "Hmm. I do not think I've seen you around the science department before. Looking forward to the game?"

"Ah, well thats because I'm a security officer" she replied with a smile. "I've only been on the Tokyo one mission, so I've not really met most of the crew yet."

"Well, how about we get this started?" Lieutenant Nicholson called from the science team as she held the ball in her hands. "Come on Science Officers, lets show these Security that we can actually give them a good fight!"

As much as the Science team tried their best, they were just no match for the athletics of the Security officers. Team Science lost with only scoring one point to Security's three. Lieutenant Pallister celebrated with her security shipmates.

She did spot the rather gloomy look on the Andorians face. "Better luck next time!" she said with a smile. "Don't feel so down, it was just a game!" she assured him.

[Later]

Eventually, the semi-finald led to the Marines versing the Security department. The final match was intense, however after a heated game the Marines took victory, but only just over the Tokyos security staff.

By then most of the day was over, Taiga and the rest of the crew were about ready to head back to the resort, all volleyballed out!
