Mission:
Captains & Contraband
Location: XO's Office
Timeline: After Forming a Plan
T'Shenn strode up to Daxer's office and rang the bell. She had to get this off her chest.
After receiving orders on the Bridge for the plan that Taiga had put in place, Jennifer headed for her office to get the information she needed to begin the process of refitting the freighter's weapons systems. She had just transferred what she needed to her PADD as the door chime rang.
"Come in." Jennifer called.
T'Shenn walked in and said, "Commander, may I speak with you?"
Jen gestured to the chair opposite her desk. "Have a seat, and tell me what's on your mind, Lieutenant." She replied simply.
T'Shenn walked in and sat down. "I was hoping to get added to your security team. While my primary function would still be pilot, I would like to be a Security officer too. I was Chief on my last two postings."
"Interesting..." Jen said, as she raised an eyebrow. "Not that I'm complaining, but I find it curious that this ship's best pilot would choose to join a security detail, instead of the helm. Is there any specific reason?"
T'Shenn looked at Jen funny. She sighed. "As I stated before, Commander, my last two postings I was Chief of Security. While I was on a leave of absence raising Karlassa, mine and K'Eltora's daughter, I took the time to pick up another skill, piloting. It was more of a hobby than anything. K'Eltora joined me. She's primarily tactical under your command. But I felt I needed to get back into security shape. I can still fly, but I graduated a security officer."
"Yes I know. I've read your service record, Lieutenant." Jen replied simply. She seemed thoughtful for a moment as she pondered the idea. Finally she looked at T'Shenn with that perfect Vulcan appearance. "I wouldn't mind the help in security, but we also need our best pilot at the helm, so I will make a deal with you. I'll allow it, but I won't allow you to ignore your duties as our Flight Chief. Do you believe that you can pull double duty?"
T'Shenn smirked. "Sure. Y'know, for a Vulcan, you aren't half bad."
"You might change your mind about that, if you ever set off my temper." Jen replied simply. "Being raised by Humans does have it's drawbacks at times."
T'Shenn looked at Jen surprised. "You're emotional?"
"I have some control over my emotions, but yes..." She replied. "I am emotional. I did not have the advantage of any Vulcan suppression techniques, until I was in my teens."
T'Shenn chuckled. "I like you already. Better to have an emotional Vulcan than one who holds it in."
"Most Vulcans would probably disagree with you." Jen said, giving the woman a light, humored grin. "I learned just enough to keep my temper in check under normal circumstances."
T'Shenn nodded. "I do that too. But then again, I am Hefestian. My temper can get me into trouble if I'm not careful."
Jen moved to the nearby weapons locker, tapping in her code, before opening it. She took one of the hand phasers from the locker, then closed it again. "If you're going to be posted as one of my security officers, you're going to have to be armed at all times." She said, moving to hand the woman the phaser. "I run a tight shift, and I'll expect you to uphold the law, even if one of our own is in violation." She said, her words hinting at such a possibility.
T'Shenn nodded. "Good thing my weapons are already registered by the Captain." She slid up her left sleeve showing her a long blade. She smiled lowering her sleeve. "I never leave my quarters without at least three blades on me at all times. But I will take your phaser, Commander." She took it and put it on her side.
"Impressive." Was Jen's only reply. She chose to keep her hidden weapons secret. "I don't know exactly what the captain is planning, so I'd suggest that you keep on your toes, Lieutenant."
T'Shenn nodded and said, "Will do, Commander. Well if there is nothing else, thank you Commander." She smiled and started to head off.
Jen watched the woman leave, then resumed what she had been doing, before being interrupted.
