Mission: Caught in the Cracks

"Enough!" Alora said, loud enough to be heard. "Alex and the Prowler were going to stay here, but they disappeared as we exited the void." She turned to the Captain. "Request permission to search for him before we get too far away."

T'Shenn looked at Alora and asked, "I would like to request I assist, Commander. Not for security reasons, but personal ones."

"For personal reasons can we disarm the Chief of Security so she doesn't accidentally, and accidently I mean on purpose, kill the guy we are trying to help?"

T'Shenn growled. "Captain, may I also recommend that Lieutenant Dillinger should place a Security Detail around Mister Dillinger to make sure he did not get accidentally switched with his counterpart. With your permission, Captain."

Alora turned to T'Shenn. "Thank you but no. I do not require assistance. This is for me alone to do. As for Lieutenant Dillinger, I can assure you he is not his Terran Empire counterpart. I would know the difference, as would we all."

T'Shenn nodded and said, "Very well Commander. I do have something to present to your fiance when you do find him. And despite Dillinger's reservations, I think even he can be there when I present it. And you're probably right about the Lieutenant not being from the Mirror Universe. His counterpart was probably more pleasant to be around."

Soren laughed. "You'd probably like him. He tried to kill people too. I imagine his Borg implants would be a bit of a red flag, but nice try. Keep reaching though. One day you'll get it."

T'Shenn shook her head and turned to Tagia and said, "Captain I wish to submit a formal complaint against Soren Dillinger. He disrespects my culture, he gets some thrill out of antagonizing me, and he has no respect for you or the chain of command. He also borders on the line of an ego maniac, in my opinion, but my opinion doesn't matter much around here it seems."

"I don't think you're important enough for me to find out every detail about your life. Again with the reaching, pretending to be more important than you really are. You're not Spock, he would have more sense then you clearly have and would have probably been more useful in a situation like we just had. Stop reaching you're gonna pull your arms out of their sockets from it." Soren smirked before adding. "And how do you know I sent here as a punishment to me? Ever thing that maybe someone doesn't like you enough and sent me here to get one your nerves? Clearly you have trouble making friends."

Taiga had been watching the entire thing play out. "AHEM!" she cleared her throat very loudly so that both officers would quieten down. "Do I need to remind you two that this is my ready room and NOT a boxing ring?" she asked clearly her voice slightly raised. It then dropped to a more lower more serious tone. "Whatever problems you two have, sort it out elsewhere. Not here. I expect better behaviour from two senior officers!"

"Now, back onto topic. We've all been through a hell of a lot, but that's no reason to start picking fights with each other" she turned back to look at Alora.

"Commander. We lost our Chief Engineer during all the infighting, medical found him dead not far from Engineering when we emerged through the anomoly, or whatever it was" she paused. "This means that we have a good few hours until we can restore our warp drive..." she paused and smiled. "And, since Mikko seems to be very busy half asleep on ym couch over there..." she nodded to Ensign Mikko, whose eyes were fluttering from exhaustion "I don't think that a runabout is going to be missed from Shuttlebay Two..." she gave Alora a slight wink hoping she was catching on.

"I'll be back in three hours," Alora said.

"However, if we jump to Warp speed. We will be doing a full shuttle and fighter check" she added. She was basically telling Alora to go look for what she needed to go look for.

"Understood. Thank you," Alora said. She headed for the door before anyone could object.

"As for the rest of you. I want this ship operational and ready to go within the next three hours" Taiga ordered. "If you have any concerns, bring them up now. Ones that haven't already been... expressed. Or forever hold your peace!"

T'Shenn looked at Tagia and said, "Captain, K'Eltora said that zh'Shonner and Pam can aid Engineering. I'd recommend Cavanaugh, but he died in the same battle that took my counterpart's life."

Soren rolled his eyes slightly and shook his head.

Taiga simply sighed. "Whatever. Just get things running again ok" she said addressing T'Shenn. "I'll put in requests for a new Chief Engineer. However it's probably going to be a while until we end up having one assigned"

The soft sound of scratching could be heard on the other side of the door, coming from the bottom. Then came soft whining before the door slide opened and a black and white colored Husky ran in. The door immediately ran to Alora and began to happily sniff at her before licking at her hands, whining happily to see her.

Alora dropped to her knees and hugged the dog, almost afraid to hope that this meant Alex was here, too.

"I've been told, on her last ship, she had a special collar that opened doors for her in public areas." Came a familiar voice of someone standing in the doorway. He crossed his arms and looked inside with a smile before stepping completely inside, allowing the doors to close behind him. "You might want to look into that if you plan on keeping me and my team around. She is an unofficial member after all." Alex added before looking around. "I heard there was a senior staff meeting. I didn't know if I qualified so I came anyway."

"Alex!" Alora ran over and hugged him, crying and laughing at the same time.

Alex wrapped his arms around Alora and held her tight, closing his eyes, before giving her a gentle kiss on her forehead. After a few moments he pulled back and looked at her with a smile before whispering. "You're not rid of me yet, beautiful. We still have to get married."

She wanted to ask the Captain to marry them right then, but it wasn't a good idea. "I don't ever want to be rid of you," she whispered back."

"Case closed people." Soren said loudly, slamming the table with a laugh before looking around the room. "Good job everyone. Mystery solved. Give yourselves a firm pat on the back. You all deserve it." He looked to T'Shenn and added. "Even you, Ratchet. Its okay to smile. You know what that is, right? It's the exactly opposite of what you are doing now, except your mouth curves the opposite way." He held his hand up a bit before putting it down. "Close enough. We'll work on that."
