Mission: The Nursery
Location: Various Locations
Timeline: Immediately following "The Breeding Room"

Previously on Star Trek Tokyo:

Yoshika looked over at Talia. "There's a possibility that Amu's baby isn't 'hers' anymore. She might have an Elachi in her belly now. But we can't be sure until we get back to the Tokyo..." She whispered to the counsellor. The last thing she wanted to do was to upset or alert Amu to a potential new problem.

Talia nodded but didn’t say anything in response, they’d find out one way or another once they got back to the ship.

"Try to keep her comfortable." Jen said as she checked her weapons. "Right now, it's the only option..." The Vulcan woman trailed off as she cocked her head slightly. "What the hell?"

Daxer walked back into the room they'd come from, following the sounds of beeping. Pulling open a drawer, she found one of their tricorders that had map data for much of the station. "Now we're in business." She said moving back into the corridor. "Let's get moving."

“Sounds good to me” Talia nodded, she was ready to get the hell out of dodge. She needed to sleep off the sedative that was in her system, but she couldn’t do that until they were back safe aboard the Tokyo.

"Best to keep moving." Liz remarked, wiping her eyes. "There'll be time for sorrow once we're back on the Tokyo."

And now the continuation...

[USS Tokyo]

The Tokyo had returned back to the Elachi Base. Taiga drummed her fingers on the arm of her chair. She had not heard anything from the away teams in a while and it was starting to concern her. The last thing she had heard was that Commander Johnson had managed to throw the Elachi off and the teams were split up.

She pulled herself out of her command chair and began to pace back and forth. She felt useless sitting here above the base with nothing to do. But she knew that her away teams were more than capable of getting in and getting out.

"Captain... I am reading a buildup of energy... Not sure what it is." Connor replied from his station.

"Could it be a weapon? Something we've overlooked?" Taiga asked as she stopped pacing.

"Negative." Connor shook his head, "Its coming from the areas where the power is distributed."

Lieutenant Yuvek continued to monitor sensors. There hadn't been any indication that the Nursery had launched any response vessels or fighters in response to the Starfuries striking against the transporter emitters.

From what he could see, the external emitters had been either destroyed or significant degraded to the point that they were unable to function against the Tokyo. While that eliminated the immediate threat, that still doesn't mean there wasn't something else waiting for the carrier if it got closer.

"Ma'am!" Lieutenant Yuvek said loudly as he console began to process the energy readings it was receiving.

Taiga turned her attention to her helmsman. "Go ahead Lieutenant."

"I'm detecting a surge coming from what I'm assuming is the power plant facilities within the Nursery. They're output has spiked over 150% all of a sudden. At those levels they're going to become unstable and trigger an overload." He reported.

Taiga pondered for a brief moment. "Wait... Are you... They're triggering an overload. This could be some sort of self-destruct!" She made her way back to her command chair and pulled up the sensor data on the viewscreen.

"Jased, get us as close as you can. We need to get our people back!" She ordered. "If you need to put us within spitting distance, do it!"

Lieutenant Yuvek maneuvered the carrier back towards the facility, but still kept his eyes on the sensor readings.

"Ma'am, I'm reading containment failures from within the facility. Whatever triggered these levels to spike so high and so fast did so with an immediate goal in mind." He said over his shoulder.

"I give the power systems. . .around 12 or 14 minutes before it loses all containment and goes critical." The Helmsman said.

"Throw all non-essential power into the comm and transporter systems." Taiga added. "We need to get through to our ground teams!"

"Ma'am, we need to recall the Starfuries. Their shielding won't hold too long once that facility goes critical and self-destructs. The radiation and EMP burst alone will be too much for us to handle, let alone the smaller crafts." Lieutenant Yuvek said.

"How long do you estimate until it blows?" Taiga asked.

"We're down to 12 minutes." The Cardassian replied as he began plotting different escape vectors from the immediate vacinity of the soon-to-explode facility.

Taiga wasted no time. She tapped her comm badge. "Tokyo to all Starfighters. Return to Tokyo immediately. We have twelve minutes until the Elachi base self-destructs."

"Bridge to Flight Deck. Get those Starfighters in as quickly as possible. Use both space doors if necessary." Taiga said once again tapping her comm badge to talk to Tokyo's TIC.

"Understood Captain." The cool and calm voice of Chief Roromiya replied.

[Starfighters]

Fubuki registered the orders from the Tokyo. She switched her comms to talk to the pilots only. "Snowflake to all squadrons. Return to Tokyo. We're going for rapid landing, so keep your thrusters on manual. Adhere to the AB's flight instructions."

The flight instructions soon came through, popping on the HYD's of the Valkyrie's. Harley and Yamaha squadrons were to use the rear flight doors, whilst Ducati and Triumph would use the forward doors in a 'reverse landing' sequence.

"Copy that, Snowflake:" Mika responded. "Flight instructions received: Harley squadron, on me:"

“Received, Snowflake,” called Vyse. “Ducatis, follow me in and ready to come about for reverse landing. Like we trained.”

=A=Affirmative, Snowflake,=A= Nozomi replied. =A=Triumph Squadron, prepare to bring fighters astern; assume holding formation until we recieve confirmation that Ducati has landed safely.=A=

[Tokyo Bridge]

Connor was going over the sensors, "Captain, sensors are picking up the away teams, I am reading all but one accounted for." He ran the scan. "Scans aren't picking up their combadge, or their life signs. They're either not on the station, or they've been killed."

Taiga pulled up the sensor readings on her chair arm display. "I'm seeing that too. Are these readings right? I'm reading their comm badges, but multiple other lifesigns around them, mainly human."

The Captain tapped away at her controls. "Tokyo to Away Teams," she said as she opened a channel. "Commander Johnson, Major Shimada report."

[Elachi Nursery]

A garbled transmission came through from the Tokyo, and Chiyo just barely managed to make out the word "report."

"We've recovered Captain Nakamura and multiple Oceania survivors..." Chiyo said. "Nishikigi, Nakamura, what's the head count?"

Chisato turned to the gathered abductees. "I need a show of hands, everyone!" she called out

One by one, the abductees slowly raised their hands where Chisato could see them. She did a quick head count before turning back to Chiyo. "I'm counting at least 17!" she responded.

"Roughly 17 survivors, copy?" Chiyo relayed. She wasn't sure how clearly she was coming through to the Tokyo.

The voice of Captain Aisaka was a little garbled, but still came through the Major's comm badge. "Major. The base is... critical..." The transmission was breaking up a little. "Sending beam out... co-ordinates.... your... tricorders..."

A couple of seconds later the tricorders of every member of the away team beeped. A set of beam out co-ordinates had been uploaded to them from the Tokyo.

"Got it!" Chisato confirmed, before turning to address the group. "Alright everyone, let's begin making our way towards the exits! Single file, please, and be sure to remain behind the Marines at all times!"

Yuri who was still rather weak was bring supported by Syaro. She looked over at Chisato. "Most of these... and my... Get them out.... before... me..."

"We're going to do what we can, Captain," Chisato assured her. "Trust me, I wanna rescue everyone here as much as you do, but right now we're on a strict deadline and have to focus on getting the people that we have rescued to safety."

"A good soldier never leaves a man behind!" Chiyo exclaimed. "It was our mission to rescue you, Captain, and I don't intend to act out the contingency of the mission!"

Suddenly, Nezuko’s eyes opened wide as an idea hit her like a sack of bricks. She typed furiously into her tricorder. “If we cannot beam everyone out, can we eject the pods? If they get thrown clear of the station, and if the life support systems are adequate, we can recover them later. It may only buy us minutes, but minutes may be all we need.” She examined her computer access, looking for release mechanisms. Could the pods be decoupled from the wall? Could bulkheads be opened to vent the area into space?

"Well, it's a bit of a Longshot, but we're running out of options," Chisato remarked. "Let's make it so, Lieutenant."

To be continued...
