Mission:
The Nursery
Location: Various Locations
Timeline: Immediately following "The Breeding Room"
Previously on "Star Trek: Tokyo"...
Suddenly a loud klaxon began to wail, echoing through the room and seemingly the entire base. It was followed by an audible announcement and warning which their Starfleet comm badges quickly translated into Federation Standard.
"WARNING. MULTIPLE SUBJECT BREACHES DETECTED. AUTO DESTRUCT ACTIVATED. 15 MINUTES. WARNING. MULTIPLE SUBJECT BREACHES DETECTED. AUTO DESTRUCT ACTIVATED. 14 MINUTES AND FORTY SEVEN SECONDS..."
And now... the continuation!
Klaxons and sirens flashed and sounded, turning an already chaotic situation into pure anarchy. Nezuko started to panic but continued unlocking pods by the tens while the others helped prisoners out.
"We need to bring the shields down," she called to her superior officers. "Escaping the pods does nothing if we cannot escape the station."
"Agreed," Chisato nodded. "you had mentioned something earlier about us having complete access to their computer systems; do you know if that tablet will allow us to gain access to their shielding network, by any chance?"
Nezuko looked more closely at her computer feed. She remembered the tricks taught at the Academy. Like the one used to defeat the Borg thirty years earlier…
She tapped as fast as her little clawed fingers could until a new alarm began going off. “The computer now believes it is in low power mode. Systems will begin powering down to conserve energy. Shields in certain quadrants will eventually be cycled through.” Eat your mechanical heart out, Data.
"Excellent work, Lieutenant," Chisato nodded before turning to address the group at large. "Alright, everyone, let's find Captain Nakamura and begin making our way towards a low-shielding area so we can arrange for a beamout!"
"Way ahead of you, Commander!" Chiyo called out.
"Found her!" Takina called out from just up ahead.
Chisato quickly converged on Takina's location to find her standing before a woman in her early thirties. Her dark hair was down to her shoulders and was dyed a deep purple-red. Her maroon Starfleet uniform was ripped and torn and she appeared to be in some sort of stasis.
Chisato glanced over at Syaro, who had moved to join them. "Is this her?" she asked for confirmation.
Syaro nodded. "That's her."
Chisato turned and nodded to Takina. "Get her out."
Nodding, Takina grabbed a metal bar laying nearby and took a swing at the tube, causing the glass to shatter and Captain Nakamura's unconscious body to tumble out.
"Help me turn her over," Chisato instructed.
Takina got down on her kneess and proceeded to help Chisato rotate Captain Nakamura so that she was laying face-up.
A few seconds later Yuri's reflexes kicked in as she immediately took a huge breath of air. She shook a little as her body 'woke up' before her eyes opened and she snapped to an upright position. "What the!" She exclaimed. "Elachi bastards!" She shouted as she lashed out.
"Whoa, whoa-whoa-whoa!" Chisato shouted as she put up her hands defensively. "Easy!"
Syaro stepped back. "Captain!" She exclaimed.
It was then that Yuri realised what was going on. "Wait..." she said finally coming to her senses. "Are you guys Starfleet?"
"It's alright, Captain," Chisato assured her. "My name is Commander Chisato Nishikigi, and I'm with the Tokyo; we're here to get you and your crew to safety, but right now we've gotta get a move on, because the self-destruct mechanism has been tripped and we've only got about..." She looked back over at Nezuko. "How much time have we got, Lieutenant?"
After checking her tricorder, Nezuko held up one finger, then three fingers.
Chisato turned back to Yuri. "...13 minutes before the whole place goes up."
"Tokyo... Tokyo... Tokyo... Wait. Aisaka's here?" Yuri asked as Syaro was helping her to stand. "If we've got thirteen minutes until this place is destroyed, we need to be closer to the surface in order to stand a chance."
"That's what we intend to do, Captain," Chisato elaborated. "Our Chief of Ops has tricked the computer systems into believing that they're in low power mode, so shielding in certain areas such as the surface will eventually be cycled through."
Yuri simply nodded, too weak to really respond or do much at this moment.
[Meanwhile]
"Well, I guess now is as good a time as any to get moving." Jen said as she led the women back out into the corridor. "Any idea which way we need to go, or should I just keep blowing open doors?"
"I wasn't conscious when they brought us here" Talia sighed, something felt off, was it something to do with Thomas? she couldn't tell, her mind and senses were dulled by the sedatives in her system.
"Your guess is as good as mine..." Liz muttered. "Let's just hope we don't run out of explosives before we find the right door..."
"This base is built into an asteroid. So logically we head up, towards the surface." Kurumi suggested. "That's our best chance..." she was cut off by Amu who suddenly clutched her rounded belly in pain.
"Amu, are you alright?" Yoshika asked as she rushed over.
Amu looked up at Yoshika, one hand on her belly. Tears had formed in the corner of her eyes. "Yeah. Those Elachi, they did something to him. I don't know what."
It was then that she winced in pain again and Yoshika could see that the baby inside her was kicking strongly against the womb. Yoshika put her hand over where the baby was kicking. Her eyes opened in shock as the baby within kicked again, once again causing Amu pain.
"Whatever they've dome to him Amu. He's got some strength in him. He shouldn't be able to hurt you like this." Yoshika explained.
Amu nodded in agreement. "I'll take a look once we're back on Tokyo. If we get back..." she said looking over to Daxer. She only hoped thar Daxer had a plan, to get them out alive.
"Do you think...?" Liz trailed off as she remembered what she saw on the Elachi Vessel at Gamma Zednor station.
“Think what?” Talia looked towards Liz, the adrenaline of getting out alive was keeping her awake for now.
Yoshika looked over at Talia. "There's a possibility that Amu's baby isn't 'hers' anymore. She might have an Elachi in her belly now. But we can't be sure until we get back to the Tokyo..." She whispered to the counsellor. The last thing she wanted to do was to upset or alert Amu to a potential new problem.
Talia nodded but didn’t say anything in response, they’d find out one way or another once they got back to the ship.
"Try to keep her comfortable." Jen said as she checked her weapons. "Right now, it's the only option..." The Vulcan woman trailed off as she cocked her head slightly. "What the hell?"
Daxer walked back into the room they'd come from, following the sounds of beeping. Pulling open a drawer, she found one of their tricorders that had map data for much of the station. "Now we're in business." She said moving back into the corridor. "Let's get moving."
“Sounds good to me” Talia nodded, she was ready to get the hell out of dodge. She needed to sleep off the sedative that was in her system, but she couldn’t do that until they were back safe aboard the Tokyo.
"Best to keep moving." Liz remarked, wiping her eyes. "There'll be time for sorrow once we're back on the Tokyo."
To be continued...
