Mission: The Nursery
Location: Various Locations
Timeline: Immediately following "The Breeding Room"

Previously on Star Trek Tokyo...

"A good soldier never leaves a man behind!" Chiyo exclaimed. "It was our mission to rescue you, Captain, and I don't intend to act out the contingency of the mission!"

Suddenly, Nezuko’s eyes opened wide as an idea hit her like a sack of bricks. She typed furiously into her tricorder. “If we cannot beam everyone out, can we eject the pods? If they get thrown clear of the station, and if the life support systems are adequate, we can recover them later. It may only buy us minutes, but minutes may be all we need.” She examined her computer access, looking for release mechanisms. Could the pods be decoupled from the wall? Could bulkheads be opened to vent the area into space?

"Well, it's a bit of a Longshot, but we're running out of options," Chisato remarked. "Let's make it so, Lieutenant."

And now the continuation...

[Tokyo Bridge]

"Ma'am, we're down to 8 minutes," Lieutenant Yuvek reported tensely as he continued to monitor the power facility readings. He almost admired the brutal efficiency of the Elachi. Design a facility that will explode in the event that its captured subjects ever escape; therefore, preventing anyone from getting away, but also dooming their own people to be horrifically wiped out in the process. Now the crew of two ships were trapped and facing an increasingly shrinking window to escape in time.

Lieutenant Yuvek sighed slowly as he looked over his shoulder towards the Captain. "Ma'am, considering how powerful it will definitely be and how far the shockwave can carry, e would have to maneuver at high impulse away from the area well before the remaining time expired just to stand a chance of escaping the subsequent radiation and EMP blast that will come from that facility when it blows." He said, recognizing that the survivors and away teams might not completely make it back in time.

"What's the minimum amount of time we need to get to a safe distance?" Taiga asked. "Can we jump straight to warp?"

"Shield emitters are aback to full strength, but an explosion of that magnitude..." Connor went through the scanners... "We cannot get far enough, however we can use the moon as cover... Which will give us a little bit more time."

Lt. Yuvek inputted the coordinates into his panel and tried to calculate the distance and how much time it would take.

"Taking cover on the far side of the moon would protect us from the immediate effects of the radiation and the subsequent loss of power form the EMP burst; however, it would take at least 2 minutes to maneuver to an appropriate position." He reported.

"If we're going to do that, then we only have 6 minutes left to wait for the away team before we have to re-position ourselves." He said.

"In order for us to escape the blast, we will have to leave sooner that two minutes." Connor replied. "If we can divert some of the power from non essential systems... we may be able to boost the ship's Shields giving us a little bit more protection. But it's not going to be enough to stop the entire blast."

Lt. Yuvek turned away from the Captain as several indicators on his panel showed numerous Human life signs departing from the station.

"Ma'am, I'm reading several Human life signals in small vessels leaving from the station. It appears to be lifepods or some kind of escape vehicle for the station." He said.

"I bet that's how they're getting people out..." Taiga mumbled to herself. "Quickly, lock onto those pods. Start beaming them into the cargo bays!"

She pushed a button on her chair arm. "Sickbay. We have multiple life 'pods' coming aboard. We re beaming them into the Cargo Bays. They have Human lifesigns in them. Have any available medical personnel report to the cargo bays to assist immediately!"

"They're on their way" Eli replied while managing the massive incoming wounded that was flooding his sickbay.

"I'm beaming them directly to Cargo Bay 4 and erecting a level 3 containment field around the entire area." Lt. Yuvek said. "I suggest having a security team dispatched to receive the incoming group as well." He added with an obvious tone of concern in his voice.

"Ma'am," he said as he turned in his chair. "We have no idea what the Elachi did to some of those crewmembers, nor do we know how many of them may have been brainwashed while under Elachi influence." He said with caution. "It would be prudent to consider them as possible threats under shown otherwise." he said.

"Good call," Taiga said. She looked over her shoulder to Carey. "You heard him. Have security teams accompany the medical staff."

Nodding, Carey tapped his combadge, "Bravo team and Alpha team report to the cargobays. Assist with Medical in retrieving the pods." Within seconds confirmation came through.

A few seconds later, the comm speakers on the bridge started crackling to life as another voice started breaking through the interference. "...axer to Tokyo.... respond!"

"This is Tokyo, we are hardly reading you Daxer!" Taiga responded quickly.

"I'm wi... ful of Tokyo's crew." Jen said through the static. "We're makin... to the beam-out... ...ay not get there befo... ...tion goes criical."

"Get a lock on their signals location!" Taiga ordered. "We might have to cast the targeting beams wide, snag anything in a large area. Thats our best chance of getting everyone out alive." Taiga said. She looked up at the timer on the viewscreen, there wasn't much time left. This was going to be tight, even for them.

"Bridge to Doctor Ellis, are you ready to recieve those pods?"

"Pods recieved, we're decanting them now, but could use some help down here."

[Elachi Nursery]

The away team continued their push towards the surface, navigating the eerily empty corridors as alarms blared from every corner. The lack of resistance as they pressed onwards was oddly disconcerting, especially given that the Elachi seemed to have no self-preservation instincts and would likely have no reason to flee.

"Not much further now," Chisato reported as she stole a glance at the Elachi tablet. "We just need to make it up one more flight of stairs, and we'll be in-!"

"Ambush! Takina blurted out as a squad of Elachi grunts rounded the corner.

Immediately, the armed marines including Chiyo raised their weapons, quickly and efficiently dispatching the Elachi.

"There'll be more incoming!" Chiyo shouted to the group once the marines had cleared an opening. "Let's go! Go! Go! Go! Go!"

Chiyo began waving for the group to move forward, leaning against the wall to widen the way as much as possible to allow others to move past her and also allow her to ascertain if they were being trailed.

Syaro, still supporting Yuri began to quicken her pace. She couldn't flat out run away as she was supporting the Captain, so it was more like a half run-half jog they were doing. "Come on Captain, let's get out of here!" She huffed.

"No need to... as me... twice..." Yuri panted as she was rushed along with the others.

Under Nezuko's direction, the away team pressed on through the maze of nondescript corridors before finally coming across the staircase that they had been looking for. Scaling the stairs, they exited out into a spacious room that seemed like some sort of central hall or chamber. The room was hexagonal with doors on all sides and a central bank of computer consoles in the middle. Huge doors made up the ceiling, as if for access from above, it was likely that's why the Tokyo could lock on in this location.

One of the far doors exploded inward followed quicly by Daxer, and the group that was with her. The Vulcan woman stepped aside, with her gun at the ready in case of another ambush. By this point, she was on her last clip with only a handful of explosive rounds in it.

"Kurumi-Chan!" Chisato exclaimed as she hurried over and pulled Kurumi into a bear hug. "Are you alright? The Elachi didn't do anything to you, did they?"

"No... just ripped my uniform." Kurumi said as she pushed Chisato off. "Did you find a way out of here yet?"

"we received some instructions from the Tokyo to regroup at this specific location," Chisato explained as she glanced up at the ceiling. "Whatever happens next is in their hands..."

As Chiyo arrived at the beam out point, she recognized the face of someone from the other team who shouldn't have been there:

"Beurling?" Chiyo asked, hurrying over to her expectant exec with a look of concern. "What the hell are you doing here?"

Instead of responding, Liz, relieved to see a familiar face, pulled Chiyo into a hug. The shoulder of Chiyo's tunic becoming wet from Liz's tears was all Chiyo needed to know. As the two of them hugged it out, Chiyo felt a small kick from Liz's belly.

"I see mini-Beurling's happy to see me too." Chiyo commented.

"Timmy, Major:" Liz corrected.

"I beg your pardon?" Chiyo asked. Last time they had spoken about it, Liz was still deciding on a name.

"Timmy Beurling Jr." Liz released Chiyo and placed a hand on her belly "That's going to be his name..."

"I see..." Chiyo nodded. "You can tell me all about it when we get back to the Tokyo:"

"Wait- Captain Beurling's having a boy?!?!" Chisato gasped in wide-eyed excitement.

"I could use a little help here," Yoshika called who was still helping Amu. She looked over at the others. "Quite a party huh."

Chiyo patted Liz on the shoulder as a cue to move to the extraction point before moving to help Yoshika.

"How can I help, Petty Officer?" She asked.

"I need to get her back to Tokyo and sickbay immediately. I believe the Elachi have done something to her baby." Yoshika explained pointing to Amu's belly which was showing signs of rapid movement and clearly causing Amu pain.

"Dear God..." Chisato gasped.

"And just when I was beginning to think we'd escaped from all of this body horror bullshit..." Mizuki groaned, looking like she was about to be sick again.

Talia was looking around, her senses were fuzzy thanks to the drugs in her system so she wasn’t picking up on as much as she usually did. “Has anyone seen Commander Johnson?”

"He's not with you?" Takina remarked.

"No?" Liz asked, confused.

Talia looked around worriedly, if Thomas wasn’t with the others where was he?

While the others were talking, Jen was looking at her tricorder. "This is cutting it really close." She said more to herself than anyone else. "Now would be a good time, Captain..."

To be continued....
