Mission: Preserving The Past

Previously on Star Trek Tokyo:

Captain Shauna Williams was excited. She was a good scientist, her specialist field being ancient civilizations and archeology. As the Kanna entered orbit she was making her way down to the transporter room with the science officers she had selected. Unlike other Captain's, she often joined her science teams on the surface. She often referred to herself as a scientist first, Captain second.

As she stepped into the transporter room she was surrounded by teal uniforms and various pieces of equipment. "Who's ready to unlock some secrets of the preservers?" She asked with a huge grin.

"You know I am, Keptin!" Anton Fyodorovich Kurakin had a rather large pack on his back, its size all the more noticeable on his small frame. Thank goodness for antigrav tech. The junior archaeologist was ready for anything.

"What would I do without you?" Shauna grinned at Kurakin as she stepped up onto the transporter pad.

"Tokyo has already furnished us with Mister Spock's field notes regarding the obelisk," Lieutenant Shigeru Hamada reported. "I must say, I'm interested to learn more about their cipher writing; the whole idea of an entire written language being based around a series of musical scales is... most fascinating."

"It probably uses some sort of mathematical sequence. After all musical notation is all mathematical." Shauna smiled. "I'm sure you'll have a chance to take a look at it once we're down there."

And now the continuation...

[USS Tokyo - Transporter Room]

Thomas walked into the transporter room, decked out into the peoples clothes, his skin darkened slightly to match the inhabitants. Placing his combadge in a secret pocket of the top, he looked around "First one here I see."

Daxer filed in next, followed by a small contingent of 5 other security officers. Each was armed with a projectile weapons similar to Jen's. "Commander." She said as she saw Thomas standing there. "Glad to see you're well."

"Commander. Nothing like getting back into the fire to refresh oneself." He replied as he looked at the weapons.

Teneca had dyed her red hair dark brown, her pale skin had been darkened slightly and she wore contacts. She was dressed in leather clothes similar to those of Amerind's inhabitants, her equipment was hidden away in a leather shoulder bag. "Commanders." She said.

Right behind them was a smaller cadre of Intelligence Officers, including Lieutenants Inoue, Hatanaka, and Nakahara. Lieutenant Nakahara, having been assigned to Thomas's team, had dressed appropriately for establishing contact with the locals; a white, short-sleeve chemise (she was not going down topless, to hell with what the field notes and what they stated about the natives' seeming indifference to the concept of a shirt) and a wrap-around skirt, fashioned from deerskin, that lapped in the front and reached just above the knee. The skirt was accented by a one-inch fringe, decorated in a pattern that, while replicated, was intended to match the consistency of primitive paints that the natives would've had available to them at that time. Her feet were adorned in high-cut moccasins, and a deerskin mantle, fastened at the shoulders, completed the look.

Lieutenant Inoue, on the other hand, had been assigned to Chisato's team, and- wanting to take all necessary precautions in the event of an ambush- could be seen wielding one of the Herald staves that had been recovered from their intial incursion, of which was slung over her back in a custom-built holster.

"Commander Nishikigi will be here in just a moment, Commander," Lieuteanant Inoue reported to Thomas. "Said she had to stop at sickbay to pick something up before we beamed down..."

"Understood Lt." He looked around. The outfit he was wearing wasn't the most comfortable. But it would have to do.

"Here I am! Sorry for the delay, everyone!" Chisato announced as she burst into the transporter room, a hot pink backpack in one hand and a neatly-wrapped bento box in the other. "One of the nurses told me that her son's stationed on the Kanna, so I offered to bring him his lunch!"

"I think my team should beam down first, just to secure the area." Jen said simply, glancing at the officers she'd brought with her. "With what's at stake, it's better to be safer than sorry."

Petty Officer Miyafuji also arrived, dressed in traditional clothes. The long sleeved shirt was decorated with patterns in triangles and zigzags and revealed a tiny section of her midriff and navel. Under the long brown skirt she had a meditation attached to her leg and her comm badge hidden in a top breast pocket. A headband with feathers on sat on her head. She had been assigned as a medic for Commander Johnsons team. "Reporting as ordered sir." She said with a smile to Thomas.

"Good to have you along Petty Officer, we will be down in just a few moments." Thomas replied returning the smile.

Connor was the last one to arrive, "I dislike the attire Commander... we sure we won't need someone at tactical?"

"We have plenty of capable officers Lt. Plus if need be, emergency beam out will be available."

"Even in middle of negotiations?"

Pausing, Thomas just ignored him and walked over to the containers. "Our merchandise we will be trading with."

"Yes, mostly animal pelts, some jewelry made from indigenous gems, and a few crude copper axe heads." Teneca replied.

The transporter officer's hands ran over the controls. "We'll beam down the security and Intel teams first to the exterior of the Preserver Obelisk. Then the Kanna will beam down their science teams." Lieutenant Shaw explained to them. "Once those teams are down, I can beam down Commander Johnson's team. I'll put you about three quarters of a klik away from the settlement." Shaw told them.

He looked up at Jen. "Commander. Ready when you are."

"Helping to find what we're after, and ensuring the safety of the Intelligence team are the top priorities of the security team. If you have to use your weapons, make certain you don't miss. Explosive rounds, and old relics do not mix." Daxer said, looking at her officers and gesturing towards the transporter platform. The security team stepped onto the platform, followed by the Vulcan security chief. Once she was certain they were ready to go, she nodded to the transporter officer. "Energize, Mr. Shaw."

Moments later her team dematerialized in a haze of blue, leaving the others to wait the short time it would take for them to secure the area.
