Repelling Elachi

Mission: Descent
Location: USS Tokyo

Taiga and Ryuuji raised their phaser compression rifles as the Elachi made their way towards them. Taiga took aim and unleashed several bursts of phaser fire, striking on of them down where he stood. The Elachi returned fire, causing Taiga and Ryuuji to duck for cover around one of the Tokyo's bulkheads.

"How many?" Taiga asked.

Ryuuji flicked open a tricorder he was carrying. "Four, with several more on this deck," he replied. Taiga bit her lip, she didn't like those odds. "On my command..." she said.

She held up three fingers, then two, then one and the sign to go. Both of them ducked out from their cover and pulled on the triggers of their weapons. The bright orange phaser blasts illuminated the hallway as they shot towards their targets. Three of Taiga's shots struck into another of the Elachi, causing him to stumble backwards before falling to the deck.

Two shots fired from Ryuuji hit another, also causing him to stumble before collapsing in a heap on the floor. The Elachi continued to fire back, however missed just as Taiga and Ryuuji ducked back around the bulkheads.

"Taiga, we can't stay here all day!" Ryuuji shouted over the sound of the Elachi disruptors. "Two more to go!"

Once the Elachi had stopped firing, both officers jumped out and unleashed their phaser fire on the aliens. Luckily both of their shots hit causing one of the Elachi to be instantly disintegrated and another to be flung backwards by the force of their fire.

"We need to secure the sickbay. Doctor Febin and the medical staff are probably pinned down in there," Taiga suggested as they hastily walked over the bodies of the downed Elachi.

"Yeah, plus we could find other officers to help us there." Ryuuji said simply as he followed his wife. Deck four had been turned into a battleground over the last thirty or so minutes. They passed several bodies of Elachi that had been hit by phaser fire from the security teams. However they didn't seem to come across any Starfleet personnel, dead or alive.

"Where is everyone?" Ryuuji asked. "Are these Elachi not that good at shooting?" he questioned.

Taiga shrugged. "We know now that the Elachi abduct people to turn them into soldiers. Or to impregnate them with their own..." Taiga said a shiver running down her spine. "Maybe they're transporting people away?"

Ryuuji's tricorder began to beep. "I'm picking up a faint energy signature from this Elachi." He pointed to one of the Elachi who lay crumpled in the middle of the corridor.

"Be quick, I'll cover you," Taiga said as she took point and raised her phaser rifle.

Ryuuji knelt down and began to take readings from the Elachi. Finally he gently took the weapon from the aliens hands. He began to run the tricorder over it. "Taiga, these aren't conventional weapons. There's nothing here that corresponds with a normal weapon style."

"Well they are strange aliens that live in subspace. Maybe their technology is different?" Taiga pondered as she began to scan the corridor intersection, checking each connection in turn.

"No, thats not what I'm getting at. These are more like some sort of transporter device. I'm no expert, but it seems that these weapons are designed to kill or incapacitate. However instead they direct a focused transporter beam at their target." Ryuuji explained as he saved the readings in his tricorder's memory. "Taiga, our people aren't being shot. They're being taken. This is just a more direct way of acquiring their targets!"

Taiga froze. So it was true, the Elachi were not here to kill but to abduct. "Don't you think its a coincidence that they turn up to a disabled starbase full of healthy young Starfleet Cadets?"

"I don't think its a coincidence at all." Ryuuji replied as he attached the Elachi disruptor to his belt. At least that way they could analyse the technology later, he hoped that they could find a countermeasure or defense against this new tactic.

"Think about it, Starfleet cadets are well trained. They're also young and strong. No doubt they knew this, but they also aren't as skilled or experienced as older officers. They're the perfect target for a race that uses other people to build up their forces." Ryuuji said in response.

"I can see your point. But right now we need to determine where they are transporting people to. We destroyed their ship." Taiga replied. "If they are responsible for the attack on the station, they must have some sort of transport ship in the area. For all we know it could be cloaked, we know that they're allied with the Tal Shiar."

Ryuuji nodded as they conitnued side by side down the corridor towards the ships main sickbay. "Well, maybe then we can find a way to decloak it and get any of our people back." Ryuuji said.

It seemed too quiet, in fact it was almost silent the closer they seemed to get to sickbay. Had everyone been transported and kidnapped? Had the Elachi broken into sickbay and taken everyone? Neither of them knew, however a faint banging could be heard, it was the familiar sound of someone trying to break through a door.

"Ryuuji!" Taiga said as they rushed together.

Soon they were faced with three Elachi, all of which were attempting to break into the sickbay doors. Taiga could hear the people inside of sickbay beginning to panic. She instantly raised her weapon and fired, striking one of the Elachi.

The deck around them was damaged, there seemed to be debris from the attack on the floor and surrounding them. Evidently the Tokyo had taken a hit near the sickbay during the Elachi's original attack. The smell of burning was still fresh in the air.

"Taiga!" Ryuuji shouted as the Elachi opened fire. Taiga quickly turned to duck under cover, however she slipped due to a piece of conduit that she had stepped on. Taiga went crashing down to the floor. She looked up at Ryuuji, just as a green beam of energy struck her in the back and she disappeared.

"TAIGA!" Ryuuji screamed as he instantly ran out. She was gone. Instantly he began to unleash shot after shot at the Elachi, he was shooting without aim and without predujice. He didn't care anymore as the flames of anger burned in his blood. His enslaught caused one of the remaining Elachi to be shot down quickly.

He then charged at the remaining Elachi. He was going to take this into his own hands, quite literally. Raising his rifle above his head, he used it like a bat striking the Elachi straight in the side of the head. The Elachi went flying side ways into the wall.

"YOU BASTARDS!" he shouted as he used the heel of his boot, ramming into the Elachi's 'face' if you could call it a face. The Elachi let out some sort of strange high pitched scream as Ryuuji continued to kick the being in the face. Strange green blood ran out of the wounds as the very angry Starfleet Officer kicked and kicked.

Finally Ryuuji stepped back, breathing heavily and red in the face. The Elachi seemed weak and was trying to raise a hand. "This will teach you..." he said as he raised his phaser rifle, placed it directly into the Elachi's face and pulled the trigger.
