Mission: Demons in the Dark
Location: Various
Timeline: Some time before 'classified orders'

ON:

The turbolift opened and Mimi quickly crossed the bridge towards the ready room pausing at the doorway to tap the chime and take a deep breath.

Taiga was slumped slightly in her chair. She was bored of all the tedious paperwork that she had been filling out since the Tokyo had returned to the Starbase. She looked up upon hearing the bell. "Come in" she said.

Mimi stepped through. "Good morning Captain." She said trying to smile even just a little.

"Erm..." Taiga replied on seeing the expression on the Lieutenants face. "Morning, is something wrong?" she asked her voice dropping to a little softer than usual. She just hoped that something wasn't going to be too serious, she had just finished writing to the families of the crewmembers she had lost recently in the Mirror Universe.

"I need to rquest an emergency leave of absense Captain." Mimi replied.

Taiga raised an eyebrow. "I see" she said as she sat forward, it didn't help her height at all. "Whats going on Mimi?" she asked.

"I have just come from a call with the USS Charleston." Mimi started to explain. "My foster mother is seriously ill, I was told it could be fatal and she has asked if I can be there with her."

It took a few seconds for Taiga to assimilate the information. "I see. The Charleston, isn't she currently assigned to the Romulan Neutral Zone. We're heading in the other direction..." she paused. "What do you need from me, apart from the leave of absence request?" she asked.

Mimi paused for a moment "A shuttle would be nice but we are at a starbase so it should not be hard to find a ship going in that direction."

Taiga simply smiled. "The chances of them giving you a shuttle is slim... however" she jumped out of her chair and walked around the edge of her desk. "I have the means of doing so.." she said beckoning to Mimi to follow her. "Come with me" she said as she led the way out of the ready room.

A little confused Mimi followed Taiga out the ready room.

Taiga led them both into the nearby turbolift. "Shuttlebay One" she said. The turbolift began down towards the shuttlebay. Once it arrived Taiga led the way out.

The officer on deck seemed surprised to see the Captain walking into the shuttlebay.

"Chief" she said simply. "Lieutenant Mimi is borrowing one of our runabouts. Make sure she has everything she needs. Also, it's going to be gone for a long time so make sure we get a replacement from the shipyard" she explained.

"Captain?" The chief said slightly confused.

"Those are my orders. Ensure to it. Now" Taiga said simply her voice tone lowering slightly.

"Yes Captain" he said as he scurried away. He returned a few seconds later. "The Runabout Osaka is ready when needed." he reported handing Mimi a PADD.

Mimi took the Padd. "You are letting me use a runabout? it could be some time before I can return it."

"Why do you think I've asked the chief to get us a new one from the shipyard." She walked over to the Runabout and kicked its nacelles with her boot. "Afterall..." she turned and looked at Mimi. "This one is damaged now..."

"Thank you for this Captain, I really mean it." Mimi said.

Taiga gave her a small smile. "We'll miss you around here." she said as she held out a hand. "But good luck out there, go do what you need to." she explained.

"I will." Mimi smiled back. "I must fetch a few things but I can leave within the hour."

Taiga nodded. "Well, I have a few things to take care of," she said. "Let me know when you're departing." she told her. She gave her another quick smile before turning on a heel and walking towards the shuttlebay exit.

Mimi waited a few moments before leaving the shuttlebay herself, heading to her quarters to pack, she didn't know when or if she'd be able to return.
