Mission: Caught in the Cracks

[CONTINUED]

[OLD]

"You can't raise a family when your dead, Captain!" Soren shouted back firmly. "I am giving you the chance to do exactly what you want. To raise a family, away from all of this, without any concern for both your lives. Or are you too stupid to see that? You think you're going to raise a child safely in the Terran Empire? On a ship that's sole purpose is to fight and destroy our enemies? This world, this life, will get you and your child closer and closer to death. Until one day, your decision, will get us all killed. That includes your child. Your instincts, as a mother, know every word I am telling you is true. Our laws, do not allow you to just walk away, so allow me to help you walk away in a manner that free's you to do what you want and only allows you to die as just an entry in a database."

"Not going to happen" Taiga said firmly. "As the captain of this ship, regardless of my current condition or my plans. I cannot allow you to get away with this. I will not take the dis-honour of running away and allowing you to cover my tracks. That will not only disgrace my name, but also my family's name for all future generations!" she explained to him, her voice starting to become raised. "I would rather die with my honour intact then run away from you!" she said. She shot a warning shot at Soren which narrowly missed his head, blasting into one of the engineering consoles behind him and showering the immediate area in sparks. "My next shot won't miss Soren. Stand down, or I will blast that ugly head off of your shoulders!"

Soren laughed devilishly before narrowing his eyes. "You made your choice, Captain." He lowered his head and closed his eyes, allowing his current link with the computer to work through the system an initiate key programs. Suddenly, a red alert began to sound, forcing the ship to lock down engineering, sealing all entry and exit points. He tricked the computer into thinking there was a a fire in engineering and to start the proper safety procedures. Areas of the ceiling began to release the fire suppression substance, coating the area in a mist and haze, spraying all over consoles and people. One particularly over Tiaga. Lastly, the oxygen began to start being removed from the area, in order to deprive the fire from growing or spreading. Since there was no fire, it meant that everyone would slowly begin to suffocate.

"Did you know that the Borg nanites in my body are programmed to adjust to any condition? This includes the removal of oxygen." Soren added a devilish smile, before adding. "I can hold out far longer than you can." He opened his eyes, prompting every console to turn off. "And I'm afraid the systems are all down. You should have taken the cake over death. Now all these people have to die. Including your child."

Taiga simply pulled a small smile. "Computer. Command over ride" she said simply. "Reset Engineering life support parameters" she said. The computer beeped a few times to acknowledge her commands. "Computer, seal off all routed and access into Engineering and delete all access to command processors regarding Lieutenant Soren". She kept her phaser pointed at his head.

"You'll have to do better than that Soren!" she said simply. "I have the computer on my side now" she explained. "There's no way in hell you're getting this ship. I'll destroy it before I hand it over... infact. You killed Silica..." she simply grinned as if an evil idea had entered her head.

"Computer. Lock onto the drone referred to as 'Gracie' stand by to beam her two kilometers off the starboard bow" she said simply.
"Lock established. Standing by".

"You have captives, and now so do I. What you going to do Soren?" she asked.

Alora very slowly tapped her combadge. "Prowler, save Alex."

Soren lunged forward with Alex in his hands and shoved him into Tiaga, knocking them both down. He quickly drew back his arm, which held the knife, and threw it into Alora's leg. "Stick around! The fun is just starting!"

----{The Prowler}----

Dutch looked over to John quickly. "Pitbull! We got a situation!"

Pitbull ran over from his position and stopped by Dutch. "What is it, Dutch?"

"Alex is in trouble."

"I heard." Pitbull replied, referring to Alora's distress call. "Tell me something I don't know."

"His heart is racing. Breathing is erratic. He isn't taking in any oxygen." Dutch said, motioning to the monitor on his screen that referred to Alex's current state.

"So beam him out." Pitbull said firmly.

Dutch looked at the console and replied. "I can't. Something is keeping me from locking on. Some kind of field around Engineering. I can't get a stable lock."

"Find a way, Dammit." Pitbull replied slamming his hands on the console next to him. "I don't care if you have to shut down power to that section in order to bring down that field. You get our Boss back on this shuttle."

"Working on it."

"Work faster." Pitbull said before walking away. He tapped his combadge and replied. "Alora? This is Pitbull. Something is blocking our transport. I got Dutch working on it. Any idea what it is?"

Alora was on the ground. She needed to get to Alex, to get him away from Soren. "Dillinger. He's taking over the ISS Tokyo. Alex is his hostage. You have to save him."

"We're working on it." Pitbull replied.

----{I.S.S. Engineering]----

Soren reached down and grabbed Tiaga by the neck, lifting her off the ground to her feet, while a sharp pinch hit the side of her neck. "You should have walked away alive, Tiaga. Instead your bravado just got everyone killed. Including your spawn." He gripped onto her wrist and twisted it forcefully, bringing it to its near breaking point. "Remember to tell Silica how much you failed." He completed his twist and broke her wrist before letting her fall onto the ground. "My Gracie is Borg, Captain. She will survive in space, much like all Borg, and I will repair her as I always do. As I always have done. You think your petty threat scares me? You think I would put her in harm's way knowing full well she could die all over again? I have contingencies in place to prevent ever losing her again. Unfortunately, for you, there is no coming back." Soren lifted his leg and slammed his foot down on her knee.

Taiga coughed up a few splatters of blood. Luckily her phaser was still in reach. She managed to just raise it slightly, and let out a blast at Soren on the highest setting. "You haven't seen the last of me!" she said simply before she was engulfed in blue and white dots of the transporter beam and disappeared.

Soren just leaned quickly to avoid the shot. Before the transport took her away, he quickly shouted. "You're about to lose something very precious, Captain. And I don't mean your ship." He held his hand up and revealed the borg tubes going back into his hand. Where ever she went, she would certain land there in pain. Unyielding pain that would not stop with simple medication or surgery. The nanites in her body were programmed to replicate and spread through her body. Attaching themselves to vital areas and attaching themselves to the point where only Soren could remove them. She was right about one thing. She hadn't seen the last of her. Not if she wanted to live. Not if she wanted to keep her child healthy.
