That would give Alora a better chance of getting away. And possibly of separating the two ships and getting rid of Soren. Should she tell him that she was the only one who knew how to get the two ships out of Null Space? Not yet. She moved closer to Alex.

The turbolift soon stopped, prompting the doors to open. Soren narrowed his eyes at the two before gesturing to the two with the knife toward the exit. "Go. You first, Commander Tau'Ri. I wouldn't want you trying anything stupid."
Oh, she was thinking of all sorts of stupid things to try. But not if it put her or Alex in more danger.
She stepped off the turbolift and looked around for anything she could use to stop Soren.
Soon as Alora stepped out of the turbolift, Soren gestured to Alex next. Alex stepped through the door, only to have Soren wrapped his arm around his throat and pull him close, placing the blade against his back, in an area that would severe his spine and paralyze him. "In case you get any ideas.." He shouted, standing behind Alex as if using him as a shield. "... Alex and I are going to get to know each other and, in case you get any funny ideas, keep in mind this knife is inches from his spine. I could drive this in and paralyze him instantly. Whether he lives through this whole or a paraplegic is entirely up to you, Commander. Now move."
She needed to get close enough to Soren to do something. Anything. But right now, she had to do as he asked. She nodded and walked to Engineering.
Alora paused at the door to Main Engineering, but decided against waiting for Soren to give her an order and hurt Alex, she moved forward, stopping only when she deemed she was far enough into the room.
Taiga turned when the three of them entered Engineering. She pulled out her phaser from its holster on her belt.
"What the hell are you doing here?!" she demanded loudly. "You're meant to be getting to the bridge!" she said. She then spotted her Soren behind them.
"SOREN!" she shouted. "You better have a DAMN good reason to explain THIS!"
"The only thing you deserve, Captain, is a slow death!" Soren replied quickly. "You have done nothing but cower in your office and make stupid decisions that get our people killed. Your last decision, landed us in here, so its time for a new regime. These people need a leader who can bring them victories and the spoil's they rightfully deserve. Not someone who will one day get them all killed." He moved forward slightly, still holding the tip of his bloodied knife to Alex's back, before stopping and narrowing his eyes. "Don't make the same mistake your friend Silica. Here death was not as glorious as she used to dream it would be."
Taiga looked him directly in the eyes. "You actually dare to challenge me?" she said with a slight laugh. "I'm not surprised that you killed Silica. She has been wanting you out of the picture for months!" she explained. "And you have no right to accuse me of being a coward! You never fight your own battles, where are you dolls now? Or do you like watching your harem doing all your dirty work for you?!"
"My dolls, Captain, are dealing with the people who refused to accept my offer. Killing them slowly and painfully." Soren smirked devilishly before adding. "Oh, and my dolls aren't the only ones fighting. A large compliment of people who are tired of being your collateral damage are fighting as well. Soon, the only people you will have loyal to you, will be the ones in this room. I have told you time and time again, Captain. Strategy and tactics will always win. You move one piece on the board at a time, while I move once and plan ever outcome and position after that. I am no more afraid of you than I am of this one." He eased the tip close to Alex's back and held him tight while he struggled. "The question remains, Captain. Are you as brave as you appear to be knowing your life isn't the only one at risk? Of course I am talking about the little one."
Taiga stared at him for a few seconds. "I never thought that you would stoop so low as to threaten an unborn child" she said simply. "A human one at that too. What do you think this is going to accomplish anyways?" she asked. "Do you really think that overthrowing me will make this situation any better?" she paused "Do you really think I WANTED to co-operate with those weak Federation crew? Or did you not consider that some sacrifices need to be made to get us back to the Empire?" she asked. "Or did you forget that without them we'd all be stuck here until we eventually kill each other off?!"
Alora said nothing, but she would not forget what this Aisaka said.
"Had you listened to me we could have raided this ship, wiped out its crew, and found a way out of here on our own. Instead you played nice and offered them compassion. You are weak! You make your uniform weak and you make all of us weak by association. You have one chance to save your's and your childs life. Relinquish your command to this ship to me and disappear. I will make sure your marked as dead and you can fade away into the void of space. Give birth to your spawn somewhere under a different name and give it a life away from its mothers mistakes." Soren eased closer behind Alex, narrowing his eyes, as he glared at Tiaga firmly. "This is your only chance to escape alive."
Taiga raised her phaser and pointed it at Soren's face. "Soren. You don't scare me. And frankly, I couldn't care less if you die or not. Frankly I never wanted your sorry ass on this ship anyways. You only got here because I let you" she said simply. "And for anyone who is wishing to stand against me, trust me you will all be charged with treason against the Empire and sentenced to death".
Out of the corner of her eyes she spotted one of her engineers raising a rifle pointing towards her. She quickly turned and the orange beam of the phaser hit him square in the chest, vaporising him on contact. "You think I'm weak just because I wanted to start my own family? Just because I took a step to actually THINK before I tried to save this ship?" she said as she returned her phaser aim at Soren. "Tell me then, why have you even given me the offer to escape instead of just killing me where I stand? Why all the small talk Soren. You want this, then bring it, one on one, me and you!"
"You can't raise a family when your dead, Captain!" Soren shouted back firmly. "I am giving you the chance to do exactly what you want. To raise a family, away from all of this, without any concern for both your lives. Or are you too stupid to see that? You think you're going to raise a child safely in the Terran Empire? On a ship that's sole purpose is to fight and destroy our enemies? This world, this life, will get you and your child closer and closer to death. Until one day, your decision, will get us all killed. That includes your child. Your instincts, as a mother, know every word I am telling you is true. Our laws, do not allow you to just walk away, so allow me to help you walk away in a manner that free's you to do what you want and only allows you to die as just an entry in a database."
