Mission: Descent
Location: USS Tokyo - Observation Lounge

Previously on Star Trek Tokyo:

With a nod, she continued signing. [Hello! I’m Nezuko, Chief Operations Officer. I’m from Amphei Prime. We can’t speak, but I can hear fine, and we breathe in an atmosphere of argon and nitrate, so I wear this!] She pointed to the cylinder covering her mouth. [I usually carry a PADD to write on, and it will sometimes speak aloud for me. I love to travel, and I write essays on the places I visit and send them home! I look forward to journeying with you all!] With a little wave, she sat back down.

Giving her a nod, and a smile, he sat back down. Quietly taking talias hand under the table.

Talia smiled as she looked towards Nezuko, they’d become good friends while Talia was on the surface. She gently held onto Thomas’ hand as he took hers, trying not to draw attention to the fact.

"Well... I just got here ten minutes ago, so I haven't really had the chance to check out my department," Chisato admitted, rubbing the back of her neck sheepishly. "Is it big? That would certainly be a step up from the Intel department we have on board the Lycoris-!"

And now the continuation...

Taiga simply cleared her throat, it did stop Chisato from rattling on. She tapped on the control panel to bring up a spacemap.

"This is going to be our new patrol area. We will be heading there as soon as we're finished here." she told them. The map showed a large zone where the territories of the Federation, Klingon and Romulan Empires all met creating a 'triangle' shape of neutral space.

"Our new home port will be Starbase 234. We will be operating under the command of Rear Admiral Tempest. The Tokyo is going to be assigned to ensure the safety of the Federations borders, managing the civilian shipping lanes and keeping the Romulans and Klingons in check."

A moment of silence fell upon the room. "Any questions?"

"Ooh! Pick me! Pick me!" Chisato called out, her arm shooting up with the enthusiasm of a fifth grader in math class.

Taiga raised an eyebrow at the strange behaviour of the Intelligence Officer. 'How did she even get to Lieutenant Commander if she acts like a child?' she thought to herself, a little scowl starting to emerge on her face.

"Apologies, Commander. Before we get into the questions and answers period of this meet and greet," Dr. Febin continued, "I do have a request to make of the Command Team that all members of the senior staff regardless of their last checkup have to come to see me regardless. It won't be a free-for-all outside the Captain and the XO. I'll have a schedule completed within twelve hour period and will present it to Commander Johnson for any necessary revisions."

"Commander, while you're compiling that schedule, make an addition with my appointment:" Chiyo requested. "It's been a while since my daughter's last appointment, and if you're going to require me to see you, why don't we get the both of us out of the way so I won't have to come back with her later."

"We will touch base when the schedule has been finalized but I don't see an issue to accommodate that request," Febin answered.

"Will Starbase 234 provide us with a copy of their tactical briefings to Starfleet Command?" Lt. Yuvek asked. Such information was considered classified, but he also was aware that there were certain pieces of information the Starbase Strategic Ops officer woud include in their sector report that they would not provide in their regular sector briefings.

"I imagine they would." Taiga replied. "I'll be honest, I'm going into this knowing as much as you do. Personally, I believe that Starfleet want us 'out of the way' for a while. Apparently we've attracted a lot of foreign attention, and thats rare for a Starship that isn't called 'Enterprise'".

"Starfleet has certainly accomplished that task and then some" The Cardassian replied sharply. "What are we expected to do in the event that we encounter a Romulan or even some rabid Klingon?" He asked. "Wouldn't that cause a lot of foreign attention once we engage them?" He inquired.

"The Lycoris was posted in that Sector for about a year," Chisato pointed out. "Didn't take us long to find out that the lines were a little blurred when it came to whose legal jurisdiction we fell under; it's a perfect storm of factors that allows for bandits and anarchists to camp out seemingly unprosecuted, so it's not so much a matter of if they shoot at us so much as when they choose to shoot at us. Foreign attention? Forget about it; there have been so many firefights out there that they barely grace the headlines anymore."

"I can see your concerns Lieutenant" Taiga said turning back to the Chief Flight Control Officer. "If what the Commander gas just you'd us is accurate, then it sounds like a hostile area which is well known. No doubt we'll have plenty of opportunities to test what this ship is really capable of." She told him. "Which reminds me, are we all ready to depart in the morning?"

"I can tell you the security and tactical systems are updated and ready," Trennek offered. "I saw to most of the upgrades myself."

"The majority of the upgrades to the propulsion systems were complete several days ago; however, I just received word that Starbase Engineering wanted to review the new upgrades to the sensor suite. They should be done within the next few hours. After that, we'll be ready to depart on your word, ma'am." The Flight Officer said.

"1st Lieutenant Rudd has done a phenomenal job keeping me in the loop in regards to the upgrades to marine facilities." Chiyo reported. "We should be ready to depart on a moment's notice."

Talia smiled as she looked towards Taiga. “The Counselling department is busy covering the new arrivals, as well as current crew who need evaluations, or are regularly seeking appointments.”

"Regards to counselling, do we have a secondary officer. Due to conflict of interest I will require another officer."

Talia shook her head. “Presently I’m the main Counsellor, I’m still waiting for extra staff from Starfleet I’m afraid.”

"Erm... gimme 10 minutes to get back to you on that one?" Chisato asked sheepishly.

Taiga nodded. "I understand that you've just arrived," she replied to the Intelligence Officer. "After this meeting, I would like to speak to you in my ready room Commander" she told her softly.

"Will do," Chisato nodded.

Once everyone had finished Taiga looked around at them all. "I'll be honest with you all. I have no idea what's awaiting us out there. However I know that whatever we do face you will all do your best." She paused for a brief moment. "We are scheduled to depart at 09:00 tomorrow morning. I do not want us to be late out of the gates, so have anything that needs doing here at Beta Antares done before then. Dismissed."
