Mission: Preserving The Past
Location: USS Tokyo Ready Room
Timeline: January 27th 2397

Previously on Star Trek Tokyo:

Taiga nodded slowly. "We scanned for survivors. The crew didn't have time to get to escape pods." She said softly, her voice full of sadness. "I know it doesn't make it easier... But it was; quick."

"That's the best way to go." Nyx said very quietly, then straightened her back. She could mourn later, there were the living here on Tokyo that would need to be seen to and they needed her now, the dead didn't, wouldn't. There wouldn't be anything left of them even to bury and Romeo would have hated that, probably would come and haunt her like a vengeful ghost, "Captain, until we get back to a starbase or somewhere for reassignment, I'd like to place my services at your disposal."

Amd now the continuation...

The Captain nodded. "We are short of a Chief Medical Officer. We were waiting for one to become available. However we were rushed out on this mission before one could be assigned." She explained. "I do believe that Doctor Hinamori would be grateful for the assistance too. Especially considering her current condition."

"Yes, she could use it." Nyx stated simply, "In fact, Captain, if you could contact Starfleet Personnel, you could even have them reassign me directly to Tokyo. Round peg in a round hole, it does appear to me. Besides, given not just Doctor Hinamori's condition, but yours as well, you really do need someone on board sooner rather than later." Her eyes were haunted with something, but she blinked three times and that look was replaced with something else, as if she'd just turned off the grief, knowing it would come back later, "And on that note, I'll want to see you in tomorrow if possible for a routine examination, ma'am, just to make sure everything's okay with your pregnancy."

"I can assign you to the Tokyo. Its a benefit of being a Captain," Taiga stated simply. "I would have preferred you transfer under better circumstances of course. However, I'm sure that Captain Williams would have approved if she was still here."

"As for the checkup. I'd rather you focus on those who were injured in the battle." Taiga stated. "Those are your top priority as the new Chief Medical Officer." she paused. "If you're adamant about my pregnancy, there's a medical kit in that locker. Check me over if you want to." she said pointing to a nearby medical locker in the corner of the ready room.

"Not very often someone volunteers to be checked out sooner rather than later." Nyx smiled her warm, professional smile as she got up, placing the drakeling on the chair, "Gigi, tola." The dragon curled up obediently on the chair as Nyx made her way to the locker and opened it, "As for your casualties, ma'am, I'll check in on the Flight Deck medical ward tonight, but in your main sickbay there isn't anyone in danger. One of your Ensigns is going to take some time healing and I'll have to check out his reaction to the regeneration process. Hanumari is his name, he lost an eye and suffered some severe burns, but he's going to be fine. The others I didn't release to their quarters are resting comfortably and I'll be checking on each one every hour or so throughout the night." She returned with the medical kit, placing it on the des and withdrawing the tricorder as she updated her (new) Captain on the status of her injured crew.

"There are always casualties in battle." Taiga stated simply as she unzipped her uniform tunic. The undershirt was just like what Amu wore, cropped just under the bust. "We all knows the risks the moment we put on the uniform." She said simply. Taiga's 'bump' wasn't as large as Amu's, yet it was clear she was well into her third trimester. "Although, this is where I belong. Where both Ryuuji and I belong."

"We do all know the risks, but I'll advise you to take fewer of them personally for a little while, Captain." Nyx stated as she began her scans, crouching down
next to the couch to be able to get scans in proximity to the abdomen, eyes oscillating between the screen and the patient, "So far so good. Since you haven't seen my personnel file yet, ma'am, I started off as an enlisted Marine before becoming a medic and joining SpecOps, and then going to the Academy to finish my medical training formally. I've been where the fecal matter hits the rotary air impeller, out in the field. May I touch, ma'am? It gets the best readings." She asked permission rather than just assume.

"Go ahead," Taiga said simply. "Just be careful of my belly button though. Ever since it's popped out its become quite sensitive." she explained with a sigh. "I'm also glad that we're getting a doctor thats not scared to pick up a phaser. On a ship like this, we'll be needing those type of skills."

The doctor made a pair of concentric circles, carefully avoiding said sensitive location, the smile turning into one that basically said 'I have a secret', "I'll let you review my file for my list of combat experience, not much of it is redacted that I'm aware of, especially at your authorization level. But to make a long story short, I'm very combat experienced and am the gal you want along if your going into danger." She pondered the readings for a moment, "Looks like everything is normal, no deficiencies, no malformations, umbilical cord free and not entangling anything. With two patients so close to term, I'll make sure we have a neonatal ward set up and ready to go. I could only imagine what would have happened if both of you went into labor in short order without another doctor on board."

"Two?" Taiga said with a smirk. "Don't you mean three?" she asked. "Counsellor Johnson is also expecting. This is what happens when the entire crew spend a few weeks on Risa at the same time."

"Three?" Nyx asked incredulously, trying to recall how many people would be on the Armitage-class ship, but couldn't come up with anything, but still, "Note to self, check the contraceptive records of the crew and make sure they come in to renew well in advance." She shook her head slowly as she rocked back onto her two inch heels, "Is that it? Only three, no more secret pregnancies that you may know of? I'm primarily a trauma surgeon, not a pediatrics specialist, though I can hum the tune and dance to it."

"Just the three that I've been made aware of." Taiga chuckled. "Unless someones been keeping it a secret until recently." she added with a smile. She changed the subject. "So, in all, everythings fine with the baby?"

"A textbook healthy pregnancy, yes." Nyx gave the Captain a genuine smile, standing up again, "But I would recommend weekly scans until you give birth just to be safe. I'll try not to be overly intrusive into things, but you know how doctors can get. Unlike others, I'll hunt down my patients in the wild as needed, just to make sure they get the level of care that's required."

"Weekly scans got it." Taiga replied. "Just promise me one thing. Don't tell Ryuuji. You'll know him as Lieutenant Commander Takasu." she paused and let out a sigh. "He's very particular about things. He's already replicated something like a thousand diapers for the arrival. And don't get him started on cleaning..."

"We can keep them off the books then," Nyx made the suggestion, "If he asks where you're going or why you're going to sickbay, just tell him that you're checking in on whoever is in there and making sure I'm settling in well? Won't even be lying to him, because I'll be there. Besides, he can use all that energy in more productive ways. If he wants, he can help keep sickbay clean, I'll put him to good use!"

Taiga placed a hand on her forehead and sighed. "Don't give him ideas. You'll walk in to find him scrubbing the gaps in the deckplates with a toothbrush..." she looked up at the doctor and then zipped up her tunic again. "Well doctor, I guess there's only one more thing to say. Welcome aboard the Tokyo officially, sickbay is all yours."

"Thank you, Captain, glad to know that I've got a new home... Again." Nyx gave a rising three-tone whistle and with a flap of wings, the drakeling launched from the chair and up to Nyx's shoulder again, wrapping her tail around the doctor's throat as she put the medical kit back where she got it from, "Let's try not to get this one blown out from under me, right?"

"I'll try to keep the ship intact." Taiga smiled back. "The Tokyo is a tough ship, I'm sure she's going to be around for a while." she added.
