Mission: Descent
Location: Cargo Bay 2

[Cargo Bay 2]

The stretchers had only started arriving a few minutes ago from the shuttlebays. Many of them carried heavily injured cadets, that weren't deemed safe to be transported to the Tokyo. Cargo Bay two seemed more like a make shift war hospital you would see in history books than a cargo bay.

Temporary fabric beds had been erected and now many of them were occupied by the injured. Doctor Hinamori was rushing around, her pink hair out of place as she moved from patient to patient stabalising them as best she could. Other elements of the Tokyo's medical staff were also rushing around with various tools and medical equipment.

If one was to enter the cargo bay, not only would they see this but also the smell of blood, sweat and burnt uniforms would assault their nostrils. Their ears would hear the injured, some of them wincing in pain, crying out, calling out for their loved ones or more eerily some laid there in utter silence as they stared into the abyss. Many of the less injured had been sat down against bulkheads and walls around the edge of the room, whilst some were being covered by white sheets before being moved away a few moments later.

"Hinamori to Febin. Sir we're going to need more supplies down here soon. We're running out!" Amu said tapping her comm badge before loading another hypospray. She injected a young woman in the neck before quickly moving on. There was no time to treat pain, that could wait, the first rule of triage was to save their life first, then sort out pain and wounds properly later.

Right as Amu was moving to tend to her next patient, a hand reached out from an adjacent cot and seized her by the wrist.

Amu looked down, she wasn't expecting anyone to grab her.

Lying on the cot was a male cadet- a fourth year, probably in his early twenties, his face blackened with soot, and a large gash running from the crest of his forehead down to his upper lip, narrowly avoiding his left eye. It was a miracle he was even cognizant in this pitiful state, let alone alive.

"Amy..." the cadet gasped weakly. "Where is... Amy?"

"I don't know," Amu said. "You're on board the Starship Tokyo right now. I'm sorry cadet, but we're still in the middle of triage and evacuation. I don't know where Amy is, we haven't done a headcount yet," Amu explained to him softly.

The Cadet began to tremble, evidently distraught by the fact that this "Amy" was unaccounted for.

"I need to go back," he began, attempting to sit up. "I need to go back!"

"You're still injured. You can't go anywhere..." Amu told him her tone still soft. She held him gently by his shoulders and held him in place. "No one is leaving here right now. We're evacuating the station."

"Get off of me!" He shouted, tears streaming down his face. "I need to go back! I need to make sure Amy's-!"

The commotion had attracted the attention of some of the other medical staff. One of the nurses rushed over to help Amu.

"Cadet!" Amu said her voice more stern and more strict now. For those who knew her this seemed out of character for the pink haired doctor. But now was not the time for emotions to be controlling their actions. "I need you to focus. There's a good chance that Amy is already on board the Tokyo, if not she will be shortly. You need to stay calm!"

Amu tightened her grip on the cadets shoulders. She noticed the nurse rushing over to help, at least she would have a bit of backup.

"NO!!!" the Cadet cried out hysterically "AMYYYYY!!!!"

In his frantic struggle to get free, he quickly retracted his knee, striking Amu in the gut and nearly knocking the wind out of her.

Amu felt a little winded from the cadets sudden retraction. This was no time to be gentle. "Cadet, ENOUGH!" she said as she pinned him down. As he struggled she looked back at the nurse "20cc of Anesthizine!" she ordered simply.

The nurse quickly loaded the hypospray from the medkit she was carrying and held it out to Amu. The doctor swiftly took the hypospray and pushed it against the Cadet's neck before injecting it. The sedative was pretty effective and would render him unconscious in seconds.

The cadet continued to struggle for a few seconds longer, but it wasn't long before the sedative kicked in and he went limp.

"My God..." one of the nurses muttered. "Are you okay, Doctor?"

"I'll be fine..." Amu said with a sigh. "Secure him with restraints though. We don't want a repeat of that again," she ordered as she took a few moments to catch her breath.

"Yes, Ma'am," the nurse nodded as she moved to fasten the restraints.

Amu gave the cadet another glance before moving towards the next injured. No doubt he cared a great deal about Amy, but she had no idea where she was, or even if she was still alive. The thought of not knowing where a loved one was during a disaster like this would scare anyone so she couldn't blame him for his reaction.

Olivia sat watching the frantic comings and goings, she wasn’t badly injured just a few cuts and bruises. As a Counselling cadet she would have to learn to assist in these situations, and now seemed as good a time as any. Getting up she gave her uniform a quick dust down before offering her help, anything she could do was better than doing nothing. Her fellow cadets needed all the help they could get.

Marine cadet Kyoko Iwase sat on a biobed. She had helped Major Shimada as much as she could until she tripped over something sticking out of the floor that shouldn't have been and sprained her ankle. Major Shimada thanked her for everything she had done before tagging her for immediate beam out. Kyoko was frustrated that she hadn't helped enough, but at the same time, there was little she could do when she could barely walk.

Lieutenant Zakrin’s assistant chief, a Trill by the name of Ensign Nauto, and two other security officers strode into the area being careful not to get in the way of the busy medical department. “Is everything all right?” He asked.

Amu sighed as more wounded started to arrive. "Yeah, we're just a little overwhelmed. Doctor Febin has the most critical patients in the ship's main sickbay. We're just keeping people alive down here," she explained to him.

"If you're not doing anything, grab a med kit and help out somewhere," Amu told them. "I gather you've all had basic first aid or medic training?"

Nauto nodded once to his comrades, “You heard the Lieutenant, let’s go.” They immediately began to render aid where they could.

Once Amu had stabalised the next wounded cadet she took a moment to breathe. She ran a hand through her pink hair as she she looked around the room. There were more and more arriving by the minute, she knew that now was not the time to think about it. She would save as many of them as she could.
