Mission: Descent
Timeline: Sometime before shore leave begins

Chiyo and Alice were walking back to their quarters after dinner. It would be one of the last nights they spent aboard before embarking on their shoreleave, and the Shimadas were discussing what they were going to do while they were on Risa.

"Oh, and at some point, we'll have to get you a new swimsuit." Chiyo said. "Trust me, you've never had a swimsuit until you've had a Risian swimsuit."

"Mom, we've been over this:" Alice grumbled. "The swimsuit I have is just fine."

"Oh, but the swimsuit you have is so childish." Chiyo said. "Don't you want something that speaks to your maturity?"

"No;" Alice said through gritted teeth. "All those adult-looking swimsuits do is highlight what I lack. I don't need a garment that reminds me of my ugliness."

"Don't be silly, sweetie; you're certainly more beautiful than mommy was at your age:" Chiyo said. "Every woman develops differently; mommy here was flat as a board until my second year of high school, so 16 or 17? Yeah, I went from being the girl no one wanted to touch to the girl everyone wanted a piece of. Of course, if your father's to be believed, he was well on his way to growing a beard in his first year, so really, you could take after either one of us."

"Kylynn had just left the captain's room when she bumped into some young looking girl on her way to her Quarters. "Oh I am so sorry about that. New ship new floorplan. She said as she made her way back up.

"Our fault, Lieutenant." Chiyo chuckled. "We should've stepped aside and made room."

"Its all good. I'm kylynn Adam's by the way. And this is Haylyx" kylynn said.

"Chiyo Shimada." Chiyo said, extending a hand. "And this here is my mini me, Alice."

"You're daughter I assume?" Kylynn replied.

"Yes, of course;" Chiyo said. "And I'd assume likewise with Haylyx here?"

"Yeah I got pregnant with her with a wannabe riker in the academy" kylynn joked.

"Ah," Chiyo remarked. "Alice here was caused by my late fiancé." Chiyo sighed. "Good times. But let me say, Lieutenant, enjoy them while they're young: Because soon you'll have a moody tween on your hands like I do."

"Dont remind me. She's more then I'm capable off" kylynn joked.

"Well, Lieutenant, we'd best be getting back to our quarters." Chiyo said. "We wouldn't want to be heading off to Risa deprived of sleep."

"Agreed, Nice meeting you Chiyo"

"You as well, Kylynn." Chiyo nodded before taking Alice by the arm and heading back off down the corridor.

"Now, where were we, Alice?" Chiyo asked now that they were back on the move. "Oh, yes, your swimsuit; at least consider browsing some of the swimsuits for sale on Risa. You might like something you see."

"Fine, but my current swimsuit will still work as long as I continue to fit in it." Alice grumbled.

"I've already confirmed our reservation with Shades of the Proud: We'll be staying there with Auntie Liz and a few of the others." Chiyo explained.

"Any of the regular guys from my campaign coming along?" Alice asked.

"Only a few of them, actually." Chiyo said. "The others wish to stay behind on the ship to help out with the upgrades to our facilities."

"Okay, so we can do some Risa one-shots then?" Alice asked.

"Don't you think it'd be a bit much to bring your whole kit and caboodle with to Risa?" Chiyo asked. "Much as I hate to suggest it, you'd be better off putting your campaign on hold until we got back. Because some of the guys who are coming with have made plans."

"Awww, that sucks..." Alice pouted. "This is going to be the worst vacation ever..."

"It's not the end of the universe that you're not going to be able to run your campaign for three weeks." Chiyo said. "Look, if you're this unhappy, then perhaps we can compromise, and maybe you bring the basics? You did say Risa one shots, didn't you?"

"Yes." Alice said.

"Well, they're called one shots because they don't tie into the overarching campaign, correct?" Chiyo asked.

"Yes."

"So, what if you just brought like the core books and maybe some blank character sheets and I'll see what I can do to get the guys who are coming with to make time in their plans." Chiyo proposed.

"Really? You'd do that?" Alice gasped.

"Of course." Chiyo smiled. "It could be fun to flesh out another aspect of your world by running some one shots in different corners of it, and give the guys a challenge by having them come up with new characters exclusive to the one shots."

"I never thought about it that way." Alice said as she and her mother arrived back at their quarters. "I'll go ahead and see what I can fit."

"Alright, but only one hour of packing and then lights out." Chiyo stated. "We've got a long day ahead of us tomorrow."
