A New Assignment

Rear Admiral Lucy Cherami had been looking through several different PADDS regarding the Starship Tokyo. It was an absolute mess, however it was her job to make sure that the ships compliment was back upto full strength. She had already assigned multiple officers and crew to replace the ones lost on its last mission.

She had summoned a young Lieutenant, Harry Stevens to her office. The young officer had the potential to take the Chief Flight Control Officer position on the carrier style vessel.

Lieutenant junior grade Harry Stevens had been called into Starfleet headquarters Three days into his shoreleave, but what was it for, as he quickly found the floor that he had to go to, he knew that he had been reassigned but not told where and could this be
it? As he came to a halt inside the outer office. He said "Lieutenant Harry Stevens, I'm here to see Admiral Cherami "

"She's expecting you" the receptionist said as she beckoned to the door behind her.

"Thank you" replied Harry as he walked over towards the office door and entered the office,he said "Lieutenant Harry Stevens reporting as ordered Ma'am" as he came to a halt in front of the admiral's desk.

The blonde haired Rear Admiral looked up. "Ah, Lieutenant" she said simply. "Please take a seat" she told him indicating with her hand to the empty chair in front of her desk. "I have an assignment for you"

'Thank you Ma'am " replied Harry as took the offered chair, he asked "May I ask what the assignment is Ma'am?" Looking back at the senior officer,as he had only returned home from his tour upon the USS Ranger.

"The Starship Tokyo. She's just pulled into drydock. She needs a new chief flight control officer. You have the qualifications" the Admiral replied.

Harry replied "Ma'am,I have not trained on the new upgrades as of yet, but I am willing to do so"as he knew that being evaluated and given the position with the ship in drydock, he continued" and how long is she did to be in dock for? " as he needed to know what the timeframe was.

"She's due for repairs for at least a week" Lucy replied. "You'll have that amount of time to get up to speed on the Armitage class systems"

"A week," replied Harry looking rather shocked by the announcement, he continued "what about my shoreleave Ma'am, as I have not had any breaks since I arrived back on Earth" as he knew what was coming next.

The admiral's eyes narrowed slightly. "Shoreleave? I do believe this was just time between assignments" she said simply. "Make the best of what you have left, as you are expected to be reporting into Lieutenant Commander Daxer on the Tokyo within forty eight hours"

Harry replied "Aye Ma'am," as he knew now that he only had forty eight hours of R&R remaining before he had to report in. And forty eight hours to get up to speed on the class of ship he was due in course of his duties piloting on his next tour.

"You should rad up on the ships specifications and arrange for your personal belongings to be transported to the ship. You'll find the Tokyo currently docked at Utopia Planetia" the admiral told him simply. "Also, regarding the current situation regarding Captain Aisaka. I should let you know that she may or may not be in command of the vessel once you arrive. Its complicated at the moment and does involve the JAG corps"

Lucy took a deep breath. "That's why the ship needs good officers. She lost a lot of her crew in her last mission. So you'll be joining along with many other officers" she explained to him simply. "Any questions?"

"Not at the moment Ma'am, but if I do I know where to come," replied Harry looking back at his new commanding officer, He knew that there was a lot of work ahead of him now, but before that he needed something to eat and drink before he started work.

Lucy nodded. "Dismissed Lieutenant" she said simply. She was hoping that he would be a good fit on the Tokyo.
