Mission:
Sand Sea Fun and Surf
Location: Outside Sickbay on USS Tokyo
Trennek never meant to block the corridors, but sometimes it happened. Currently he was reaching into an access panel that was on the ceiling outside of the Tokyo's main sickbay. Every time someone had to enter or exit the medical ward, he had to move. This was causing his work to take much longer than normal. He wondered, to himself, why not do this on an off shift when there wasn't so much foot traffic.
He sighed to himself as he double checked his work on a targeting sensor system junction. He just might complete this after all.
Doctor Febin had been informed that there was a Brikar outside of Main Sickbay attending to something overhead. He wanted to check-in. He hadn't met a Brikar before but he had done some readings during the acceleration programme at the Academy about their physiology and medical necessities which he had found interesting. Febin for most of his medical career had treated only Haliians, Starfleet had given him the opportunity to study medicine and learn new techniques all while meeting interesting people from all walks of life, beginnings, cultures and species. Even a Haliian who was born offworld and never have stepped foot on their homeworld.
He almost stepped directly into the Brikar. His face pointed into his lower abdomen while he towered over him at six feet ten inches tall compared to Febin standing at five feet six inches. He looked up slowly with curiosity while he looked up at his face. He offered the Brikar a smile and in standard Haliianese greeting into Federation Standard, "The light shone upon you."
Trennek looked down curiously, "Uh... and also with you?" he replied a little unsure in his low bassy tone. "Apologies if that's not the proper response. That's a greeting I've not heard yet."
"It is a standard Haliian greeting," Febin replied, "No need to apologize either. That is an appropriate response to such a greeting."
The doctor offered the Brikar a warm smile and offered to take his hand into his, "I am Doctor Febin, the Tokyo's new Chief Medical Officer. And you must be Lieutenant Trennek, correct?"
"Correct," Trennek answered feeling a little more at ease as he shook hands with the doctor. "I had gotten the memo that you were coming aboard. It's nice to meet you. I've only recently transferred to this vessel myself."
With there being only one Brikar onboard he took the opportunity to assume whom Trennek was. He continued to smile warmly, "Yes. Pleasure to make your acquaintance, Lieutenant Trennek of Brikar."
"Yeah, I'm kinda hard to miss... as they say," what emanated from the Brikar sounding like a low rumble was actually a chuckle.
The Haliian chuckled alongside with newfound camaraderie with Trennek, "Pleasure to make your acquaintance, there's still much for me to do in Sickbay."
"I understand," Trennek knew well how much work was being done to the ship while she was in dry dock. "I have a few things to wrap up as well with the tactical systems. It's always good to get to know crewmates."
"Maybe we can meet for tea off-duty sometime?"
"I'd be happy to meet you off duty only..." Trennek struggled for the words, sometimes his dietary habits were difficult to exlpain, "... I don't ingest liquids and foods like most others. I can replicate something suitable for myself, but the short answer is yes, we can meet."
"Of course, my apologies." Febin smiled and then in Haliianese, "With peace may the light shine upon your path until we meet again."
With that the Doctor returned through the double doors into Sickbay.
"And also with you," Trennek returned, then more to himself than anyone else because, simply, no one else was around, "You don't have to apologize. Not everyone knows that." He shrugged and finished off his work in the corridor.
