Mission: Christmas Time
Location: Starbase 18

Previously on Star Trek Tokyo:

"Oh" she said with a slight smile. "I'm a what now?" She asked curiously. "Commander Takahashi wasn't it?" Her eyes went fron being narrow to normal as she simply smiled at the commander. "Congratulations on the wedding by the way, even if my Chief of Security ruined the day. You should know that I didn't ask her to do that..."

Maho and Keisuke both turned in the direction of the voice, and Taiga found herself on the receiving end of two cold stares, of which Maho's was near-identical to the one she had given to Taiga that day.

"Somehow, I seriously doubt that coming from your lips..." Keisuke spoke up. "You probably enjoyed hearing of what your... What was it, your Chief of Security? Did almost as much as you enjoyed telling my wife off for doing her job."

And now the continuation...

Taiga sighed. "You really think that I'm some sort of monster don't you?" She asked. "Tell me" she added moving a bit closer to them. "As Starfleet officers, would you ignore a distress call, even if it was from an enemy? Would you put your life and the life's of your crew on the line to help them? And would you risk what I did to do what's right?" She asked politely. "Because that's what I did. What happened after wasn't my fault. How Admiral Miyahara treated me was against the rules and Federation Charter, no matter how much you admire him its still the truth"

She grabbed one of the chairs from an adjacent table and sat down with them. "However, that was in the past. We can't change what happened, but it's Christmas. I'm not sure how you see it, but this is a time to forgive and forget tight?" She told them with a smile. "If I dwelled on my past, I wouldn't be where I am today. I would probably have jumped off a bridge or something..." she paused. "So, what I'm trying to say is, should we get along as officers of the same fleet or do you want t to dwell on whsts already happened?"

Keisuke looked like he was going to speak, but Maho put her hand up to stop him:

"In 1914, along the western front of Earth's First World War, there was a series of ceasefires all along the front at Christmastime; and soldiers from the Allied and Central Powers alike forgot, even if it was just for a day, that they were enemies." Maho explained. "Surely, almost half a millennium later, we, as Starfleet Officers, should be able to set aside any animosity we might have towards others, and forget, even if it's for a day, the things you said to me only hours after I found out I was pregnant, or your chief of security's treatment of our best friend."

"I couldn't have known you were pregnant" Taiga stated simply. "You're lucky to be bringing a new life into this universe"

"Not like I would have told you even if I wanted to." Maho responded. "I don't think I really told anyone about it until baby Takahashi here grew too big to be kept hidden. Though, it wouldn't have taken a genius to figure it out before then, given how sick I was in the beginning."

"I never got to that stage unfortunately..." Taiga said in a slightly sadder tone. "Before I was shot by a Romulan disruptor at point blank range causing me to lose mine" she added.

"Such are the dangers of being a Starfleet officer:" Maho said, shuffling about in her seat to face Taiga. "Though, honestly; morning sickness is one of those things I'd be alright if I never experienced again: Seriously; the smallest, most stupid things become triggers, and before you know it, you're hoping and praying you make it to the nearest bathroom to puke your guts out in peace and spare yourself the embarrassment of making a mess that your crew has to clean up. The latter... May have happened to me a few times. Even now, if I'm not careful with what I eat, I'll have to run off to barf. It's just overall not a fun part of pregnancy."

Taiga couldn't help but smile. "And here I was thinking that waddling around the Tokyo with a huge belly and my belly button sticking through my uniform for everyone to see was going to be the worst part" she laughed. She ushered over one of the servers and took one of the drinks off of his tray. She took a sip of it to discover that it was some sort of champagne. "Who selected the drinks for this?" she asked curiously. "I mean come on, no Sake?"

"Oh, what I would give for a glass of Sake..." Maho sighed. "Unfortunately, that's one of the things I was advised to give up while I'm pregnant. Alcohol and synthehol in general are both very bad for me to have."

"I'll just drink for you then" Taiga said. "After all, its been a while since I really let my hair down. Since we've cleared the air, I might as well get Ryu to join us?"

"Sure, the more the merrier;" Maho said. "Besides, I should probably hit up the buffet myself; see if there's anything I can consume."

Taiga waved over to Ryuuji to call him over. "There's a large selection I believe" she replied.

As Maho got up to head to the buffet, Keisuke was surprised that the man Taiga had referred to was the same one he had run into at the buffet.

"You again?" Keisuke asked. "This day just keeps getting interesting..."

"Yes, me again" Ryuuji said his eyes narrowing. "Whats she done now?" he asked referring casually to Taiga.

"Oh, just a few little things; nothing worth rehashing though." Keisuke responded, looking at Ryuuji for a few seconds. "Yeesh, and I thought I looked scary..."

Maho came back a few moments later with some shaved ice; something she looked extremely happy about:

"They have shaved ice here;" She proclaimed as she sat back down. "Aw man, Zack and I used to get this stuff all the time back at the Academy!"

"Aren't you going to have an entrée first, babe?" Keisuke asked.

"In a minute..." Maho responded. "First, shaved ice."

Keisuke merely shrugged and turned to Taiga and Ryuuji.

"Pregnant women always know what's best for them, and sometimes it's best to just let her have something instead of facing her hormonal wrath." He said.

"I see" Ryuuji said as be took the seat beside Taiga. "So, you lot made up after all that mess huh?"

"Sort of" Taiga responded. "I think that now we're here and it's Christmas we should put the past aside. We're all going to be out there and we should all trust each other. No doubt we'll eventually run into each other in the cold depths of space"

"When did you become so poetic?" Ryuuji smirked.

Taiga punched his arm playfully. "I'm making a point here!" She told him.

"Look, man; I'll be level with you:" Keisuke said. "It's still going to be a while before those wounds heal. But, in the spirit of the season, I am willing to forgive, but not necessarily forget what happened. Roles reversed; if my woman insulted yours for the heinous crime of doing her job, and you had to bring her back from a sobbing mess, I'd imagine you'd have a right to be angry at us."

Ryuuji looked at the man. He didn't appreciate how he spoke to him, especially when he knew it was hard for Taiga to hold out the olive branch. "Lets just try and have a good time shall we. Whats happened in the past has happened, we can't change it. But there's no reason why we can't enjoy this party"

Keisuke looked Ryuuji in the eyes; he could tell the other man was displeased by what he had said previously.

"Well, that's something we can agree on:" He said. "We shouldn't let the events of the past bog down the spirit of the season." Keisuke decided to leave his remark there.

"Indeed" Ryuuji replied as he picked up his glass and raised it. "Here's to a better future, as rival ships, but not enemies"

Keisuke grabbed a glass of champagne off the tray of a passing waiter.

"I'll drink to that." He said, raising the newly-acquired glass.
