Mission:
The Elachi Return
Location: Officers Mess
Timeline: After Takeshi's release from sickbay
Previously on Star Trek Tokyo:
"But, a warning from one man to another. Man to man" Ryuuji said simply his tone lowering slightly. "Don't say that you'll deliberately harm others when people can overhear you. Remember that you're still an senior officer and need to set an example, not just to others but... them too" he explained indicating to the two children sat at the table.
And now the continuation...
"A fair enough warning:" Takeshi responded. "Mutually assured destruction if one party attempts bodily harm against the other. So long as Captain Aisaka doesn't try to hurt my family, I see no reason for raw paternal instinct to take over. So, if your old lady is everything you say she is and more, than you can breathe easy knowing I'll only come after your blood if you come after mine."
Sayuki looked up from her T-bone steak. Takeshi turned back to his wife, having noticed that she was now looking in his direction.
"So, are you going to tell me your name or am I going to have to guess?" Sayuki asked Ryuuji.
"Takasu Ryuuji" Ryuuji replied using his family name first as per Japanese tradition.
"Oh, so we're doing it that way," Sayuki said. "Well, I'm Nakazato Sayuki then."
Ryuuji smiled. "Well it is the way that our people introduce each other" he replied simply. "Tell me, how are you finding the Tokyo. I know we don't have many civilians on board with this ships primary purpose being military support"
"Well, it's quite the difference from a life on earth." Sayuki admitted. "There are so many places that are off limits, it's not even funny. I just have to say praise the Buddha for holodecks, otherwise I probably would have gone insane by now."
"Holodecks are AWESOME!" Mako blurted out. "Mommy and daddy can drive fast there, and it's so fun! Mommy drives faster though..."
"Now, now," Takeshi said. "How mommy drives fast is very flashy: Daddy's fast driving is much more practical."
"But mommy's driving is so much more fun!" Mako pouted. "She swings the rear of the car out and it's all like WAAAAH!"
Takeshi turned back to his wife.
"I hope you haven't been drifting in my actual car, dear." Takeshi said. "Because you're paying for new tires if you did!"
The look Sayuki gave her husband was all Takeshi needed to know that she had indeed been out on Myogi or Usui drifting his GT-R.
"Like I'd ever leave you with bald tires, dear." Sayuki responded. "Come on, I thought we knew each other better than that!"
Takeshi turned back to Ryuuji.
"Sorry, Ryuuji:" Takeshi apologized. "Sayuki and I are both car nuts, and I guess you could say we rubbed it off on our daughter a little."
Ryuuji took a sip of her coffee. "I would never have guessed" he chuckled. "The holodecks aren't functioning today however. Engineering have been busy getting most of our essential systems back online" he explained. He glanced over at the chronometer on the wall of the mess hall.
"Speaking of which..." he said. "I have several Valykries to get back into service. I'm sure that Trigman wants them back in working order as soon as possible"
"Of course." Takeshi replied. "Sorry for keeping you as long as we have: We're just going to finish up here and Sayuki and the kids are going to head back to our quarters. She's got work, and I've heard there are some things Lieutenant Shoji wishes to speak to me about."
Ryuuji nodded. He smiled at Sayuki. "It was nice to meet you. I hope that once this is over, our path's cross again." he then looked over at Takeshi. "And, we get our Captain back; maybe you'll change your mind about her". He placed his empty coffee cup on the table and strode away across the room.
Takeshi and Sayuki both watched Ryuuji leave. When the door to the mess hall swooshed closed behind him, Sayuki finally spoke up.
"What a nice man." She said. "I guess you really can't judge a book by its cover..."
"He looks scary, but I don't think he can help that." Takeshi responded.
Takeshi looked over the food on the table. Most of the food had been eaten, the exceptions were Ryuuji's waffles and Zack's food.
"We just about done here?" He asked.
Sayuki checked her chronometer.
"Yep, I suppose it's getting to be about time the phones are going to start ringing." She muttered. "Zack, honey, now's your last chance to eat anything."
Zack shook his head and pushed his food away.
"I'm not hungry..." He muttered.
"Well, don't come bugging mommy when you're hungry in an hour." Sayuki responded. "Ask your sister how to work the replicator if you need something."
"Okay..." Zack sighed.
Takeshi finished his Darjeeling.
"Well, you go on ahead then." He said. "I'll clean up and make sure this is all disposed of."
As the Nakazato family stood up, Takeshi stopped Mako.
"Hey, champ; you hear what Mr. Takasu said?" He asked. "No holodecks today, so no fast driving, okay?"
"Okay," Mako sighed. "But all bets are off with the drifting game!"
Takeshi smiled. "Of course, dear, but only after mommy and daddy are done with work."
"YAY!" Mako cheered.
Sayuki undid Zack's booster seat from the chair he had been sitting at to bring it back to their quarters.
"Thanks for cleaning up, dear." Sayuki said as she scooped up Zack and took Mako's hand. "I'll see you tonight."
"See you tonight, honey." Takeshi responded with a nod.
As Sayuki and the kids left, Takeshi began the process of walking empty plates and uneaten food back to the replicator to be recycled.
