General Overview | Casey Washburn, affectionately known as “Wash”, is a pragmatic and thoughtful figure with a strong technical background in engineering. Known for his calm demeanor and sharp problem-solving skills, he approaches challenges with a practical mindset and a deep respect for the mechanics of how things work—both in machines and in people. He believes deeply in the power of collaboration, often saying that no innovation or solution is ever the work of just one mind. Though naturally reserved, he’s a steady presence in any room, with a quiet confidence and a dry sense of humor that emerges when least expected. For Casey, success is always a team effort. | |

Hobbies & Interests | Casey Washburn has a deep appreciation for classic engineering—both starship systems and old-world mechanical devices. He enjoys restoring antique tools and occasionally tinkers with holographic recreations of 21st-century engines for fun. A lifelong lover of music, he has a particular fondness for orchestral compositions and quietly collects rare recordings from across the Federation. When off duty, he’s often found reading historical nonfiction, hiking alone on holodeck trails, or brewing small batches of strong, dark coffee—a ritual he finds both meditative and grounding. |
Personal History | Casey Washburn was born in 2355 in New Chicago on the planet Cestus III, where he developed an early fascination with machinery and systems—often taking apart household appliances just to see how they worked. Encouraged by his educators and inspired by a mechanically inclined grandfather who had worked as an aerospace technician, Washburn pursued a path in engineering. He entered Starfleet Academy in 2376, just after the Dominion War, driven by a desire to contribute to a more stable and forward-looking Federation. He graduated in 2380 near the top of his class, specializing in warp propulsion and systems integration. Following graduation, Washburn was assigned to the USS Sarajevo, an Excelsior-class support vessel, where he served from 2380 to 2386. During that time, he advanced from propulsion systems officer to assistant chief engineer, gaining a reputation for calm under pressure and a knack for troubleshooting systems failures in the field. In 2386, he transferred to the USS Republic, a Sovereign-class explorer, where he served for over a decade—from 2386 to 2397—rising to senior engineering officer and playing a key role in several long-range exploratory missions and deep-space upgrades to the ship’s warp and shield systems. In recognition of his technical expertise and leadership, Washburn was named Chief Engineer of the USS Tokyo in 2397. At 42 years old, he brings over two decades of experience, a steady hand, and a deep respect for teamwork to one of Starfleet’s most capable engineering posts. |
